An emotional candlelight vigil was held in Manchester's St. Ann's Square one week after a terror attack killed 22 people and injured dozens more.

Hundreds turned out for the event, where a moment of silence was held at 10:32 p.m. local time -- exactly one week after the attack began.
A sea of flowers, candles and balloons filled the square as hundreds of mourners paid their respects to the victims.

The Guardian

Suspected Islamist terrorists are being prevented from returning to the UK for the first time, the home secretary has disclosed, as she warned that members of the Manchester bomber’s terror network could still be at large.

French special forces have for months enlisted Iraqi soldiers to hunt and kill French nationals who have joined the senior ranks of Islamic State, according to Iraqi officers and current and former French officials.
The motive for the secret operation is to ensure that French nationals with allegiance to Islamic State never return home to threaten France with a terror attack (...)

Britain's intelligence services have launched an inquiry into how warnings about the 22-year-old Abedi's radical views were handled amid indications that vital warning signs were missed.

Police are scouring 12,960 hours of closed circuit TV recordings in their search for clues, have collected more than 630 pieces of evidence and have searched 21 addresses.

Lets hope it doesn't take as long as the Chilcot inquiry.

"This is the first picture of a wannabe pilot held by anti-terror police probing the Manchester Arena massacre.

A 23-year-old Libyan named locally as Alaedeen Sicri, also known as Ala Zakry, is the 16th person held in connection with last Monday’s suicide bomb attack.

The latest arrest came as new CCTV footage of evil killer Salman Abedi was released showing him shopping at a convenience store just hours before he blasted 22 people to death at a gig."

It is frightening to think what this individual could have done.

A man arrested on Tuesday, 23 May at Stansted Airport has been charged with preparing for acts of terrorism contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Aweys Faqey, 37 (01.10.79) of north London was charged on Tuesday, 30 May.

Apparently his arrest is not connected to the Manchester attack.

Aweys Faqey of north London was charged under the Terrorism Act following his arrest last week.
Faqey was arrested by counter-terror police before boarding a flight to Turkey last Tuesday on suspicion he planned to travel to Syria.

The French do it differently:

Go France! I like their style.... get rid of these ISIS fans asap.

Apparently his arrest is not connected to the Manchester attack.

Faqey was arrested by counter-terror police before boarding a flight to Turkey last Tuesday on suspicion he planned to travel to Syria.

I'd rather they'd let him get to Turkey / Syria and then stopped him coming back

Thoughts of love, strength and comfort for the victims and their loved ones in Manchester.

This tribute and benefit concert reminds us all of the angels who were lost on May 22. Your lights will always shine brightly.

Police believe Manchester bomber Salman Abedi largely acted alone

16 have been arrested so far in connection with the Manchester Arena attack, but it is thought the 22-year-old operated on his own
On Monday night police released a CCTV image showing Abedi wheeling a large blue suitcase and appealed for anyone who may have seen him with it on Wilmslow Road, known locally as the Curry Mile because of its abundance of south-Asian restaurants.

“We are especially keen to find out why he kept going back to the Wilmslow Road area and we need to find the blue suitcase which he used during these trips
,” said Jackson. For the last few days officers have been searching a landfill site in Pilsworth, Bury, reportedly looking for the case.

"The Manchester terrorist bought most of the parts for his suicide bomb himself and largely acted alone when he killed 22 people, it has emerged.

Salman Abedi purchased the majority of the 'core' explosive elements used in the bomb in the four days before the May 22 attack.

During that time, he is believed to have acted alone, with CCTV showing him moving around different parts of the city on his own.

But police have not ruled out that the 22-year-old - who arrived back into the UK from Libya in the days before the attack - was part of 'a wider network'. Eleven people remain in custody following a series of raids across the country.

"The injured mum of Saffie Roussos has come off life support and has been told her eight-year-old daughter died in the Manchester terror attack.

Tragic Saffie was the youngest of 22 people killed in the rucksack bomb massacre at the Ariana Grande concert last week.

The "adorable" little girl attended the gig with her mum Lisa, 48, and elder sister Ashlee Bromwich, both of whom suffered serious shrapnel injuries in the blast.

Lisa is understood to have undergone two operations for her injuries sustained in the explosion detonated by suicide bomber Salman Abedi - but is "pulling through".

I can't imagine going through this it is absolutely heartbreaking and tragic.

MANCHESTER BOMBER REPEATEDLY VISITED LIBYAN JIHADI IN JAIL

Daili Mail
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...er-repeatedly-visited-Libyan-jihadi-jail.html

The Manchester bomber Salman Abedi made repeated prison visits to a convicted Libyan jihadist in the months leading to the attack.

The terrorist regularly went to see Abdalraouf Abdallah, who was jailed after trying to help other Manchester-based fanatics join extremists in Syria.

Abedi, 22, visited privately-run Altcourse Prison in Liverpool up to three times this year. His last trip was in March, but it is understood it was not ‘red flagged’ because Abedi was not on a terror watch list.

BBM

Abdallah, of Manchester’s Moss Side, is the son of a Libyan dissident and came to the UK with his family as a refugee in 1993.

He was jailed for five-and-a-half years at Woolwich Crown Court in July last year after being convicted of helping other jihadists travel to Syria and providing funds for terrorism.

Hmmm.... sounds somewhat familiar.....

"Police have released new CCTV images of the Manchester bomber after the mother of the youngest victim of the attack was taken off life support and told about her daughter's death.

Officers are asking for the public's help in piecing together what happened in the lead-up to the atrocity at the Manchester Arena last Monday in which terrorist Salman Abedi killed 22 people.

Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson, head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, said 'significant progress' was being made in the investigation, but added that police were still trying to establish why Abedi went to the Banff Road area in Rusholme."
