UID:

The only inconsistencies are his age (31) compared to the 40-60 estimate, and his clothing description doesn't match the description of those found with the UID.

But everything else looks good.
* His height (5'11") is right (5'7" - 5'11)
* His Race matches
* The timeline (6 months from 10-Aug-92 to 13-Mar-93) is consistent with the 5-18 month est. postmortem interval.
* Kerr County is less than 100 miles from San Antonio.

Lloyd Downey?

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/8484/98/

- Race matches
- Height matches (he's between 5'8 and 5'11 according to NAMUS, 5'8 according to Charley Project)
- Age matches (he's 56)
- His hair is 'partially gray'
- Bexar County is less than 100 miles from Kerr County
- Went missing on November 19th, 1992 (four months before the body was found)

I don't know if he has dentures, though...

EDIT: Sorry, just noticed he was ruled out.

Wow! Good job. That seems like a really good one. How common could a set of dentures like that be?

Add in that the race and the timeline are spot-on, and the location is pretty close. The age is off - but even so, this looks like a pretty solid possible.

I e-mailed it in to Todd Matthews, and he is passing it on to the appropriate persons.

Thanks for the heads-up. I think this was already on their radar before I called it in. So I am not going to claim credit for this one. I'll go ahead and flag it Identified.

Props, Carl. Radar or no in this specific case, your calls have done more real legwork than many of us combined.

That is awesome news indeed.
Just wonderful!

I am from William L. Shoffners hometown and have known him since I was a child he was a good friend of mine, he also graduated with my oldest brother. For years so many of us have wondered what could happened to him, we knew it had to have been something like this because everyone knew never would he become estranged from his family, he loved them very much but we were yet trying to be optomistic, 21yrs is a very long time. I have no doubt that I speak for his family as well as myself; "THANK YOU" all for everything you do and did to help families such as Williams find some closure. I can only wish that I could have found this community years ago.
We loved William so very much
RIP my friend, so glad your finally coming home~
