GUILTY MS - Linda Reed for embezzlement, Copiah County, 2012

So either someone was already in her car when she got in (could they see that on surveillance?), someone got in her car at another stop (stopped for gas, stop sign, red light), or it happened at the office area.

Someone could have come in the gate while it was unlocked and was there when she returned or accosted her when she returned and got out to unlock the gate.

Strange that they didn't take her purse, credit cards, or money but they had rummaged through her purse.

I wish we knew what she got on the first trip to Walmart.

I agree
If she was last seen on video leaving Walmart, it is difficult to know where she met up with someone and all of the above scenarios are possible

The business had a locked gate but I am assuming no video camera

It is an interesting fact that they left money and purse but had a look through it
If they weren't looking for money, what were they looking for?

Drugs really are the only thing that comes to mind

If she picked up a script at Walmart, LE would probably know that by now

So she lives behind the business mon-fri and goes home to Carrollton...I am assuming that its by New Orleans. Wonder if and why her husband is not speaking out.????

Carrollton is between Greenwood and Winona on hwy 82. Where she was working is south of Jackson (I would call it suburb of Jackson). New Orleans would be 2 hrs south of her work area.

Her drive between Carrollton and Gallman would be about 2 hrs. I can see why she would stay there during the week.

Strange too, that if it was drug related, they wouldn't have taken the cash too. This is a really puzzling case.

Another thought, could she have witnessed a crime somewhere along the road? Or, stopped to assist someone and came upon a bad situation?

Yes, you would think if it was about drugs, they would want money also

I read they were looking at her home also
Guess looking for any clue

I wonder if they have pulled any of the surveillance video from WalMart. If she was making a second trip there, it should show whether she made it there or not and if she was with someone.

Or even if there was any highway camera's that may have shown if she or another was driving the SUV..

Having lost a tooth, that could have been caused by an assailant pushing her from the driving seat as he/she or they forced their way into the car.

IIRC, the Vickie Ellington disappearance was a strange one, also. About 90-100 miles north of Crystal Springs. I don't believe she was ever located, MagnoliaMom. Her purse was found inside her vehicle, I think.

Maybe she was flagged down by a fake breakdown.

Some form of identity, identity fraud is big buisness, or something to send with a ransom note to prove that they are holding her, some personal item.JMO

Seems very weird that the groceries were gone. A hungry/thrifty kidnapper????

Did they check where she was living for her groceries? Maybe she carted them inside and then went back out to get her purse and other belongings and was either accosted by someone waiting inside for her or when she went back to the car.

I just can't fathom why you would assault someone bad enough for them to lose a tooth and then just dump a car leaving money behind. So I guess we can deduce it wasn't a robbery...but now I wonder what Ms. Reed got tangled up in and/or saw to make someone want to 'disappear' her?

A very good question, unless he had some sort of tracking device?..

What puzzles me is where did the intruders get into the car? if not at Walmart then maybe a bogus breakdown on route?..

Hi Saracen! Have missed your posts. Good to hear from you! :seeya:

How did her son locate her vehicle in this desolate area? Video at link.
One of the articles states that they found it with cell phone pings. It doesn't look like she drove it there, but that it was dumped there.

The pharmaceuticals in her purse is a good thought but if not that what else could be in her purse that someone would want? Photos (maybe developed earlier at Walmart)?

This doesn't make sense:

Reed was last seen on surveillance cameras at 7:45 Sunday night when she bought groceries at the Walmart in Hazelhurst.

Around 8:30 p.m., some coworkers who were leaving the grounds of Moore’s fabrications spoke to her, and she told them to leave the gate unlocked, because she had to go back to Walmart.

Surveillance tapes from Walmart show Reed leaving the store between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, relatives said.

After that, co-workers said, she came back to the office and realized she still needed to pick up some groceries. She told them not to lock the workplace gate because she would be leaving to go back to Walmart not long after them.

If she was seen at 7:45 on surveillance getting groceries why would she say at 8:30 to co-workers that she forgot to get groceries.

I think she made it home unloaded groceries then something happened at home. ITA, this is about someone who wanted to disappear her.

What a mysterious case. I have been questioning in my mind about that second trip to Walmart. Just didn't feel right to me.
Idk, but I have a suspicion that was not where she really went that second time she left. And why would she have the employees leave the gate unlocked? Did she want them left unlocked for someone else? Was she planning to meet someone there? Some sort of secret liaison?

I don't think she made it back to Wal-Mart for the second trip. She wasn't seen on the Wal-mart tapes after 8:30. She was going to go out for a second trip because she forgot some groceries (happens all the time) and told her co-workers to leave the gate unlocked. Anyone could have come in, locked the gate behind them and taken her.

It is also possible she was meeting someone at work or Wal-Mart that no one knew about I believe in the Ellington case, she parked at a Wal-mart, but walked over towards a McDonalds and was never seen again.

There are so many possibilities, not just kidnapping, what about blackmail? could that have been happening, she went to a 'meet' and could not pay up. I know its aweful for the family, but all things should be considered, i would imagine thats what LE would be doing also.
