Amanda Knox's ex-boyfriend: I wasn't trying to flee

Amanda Knox's ex-boyfriend said Friday that he was out of Italy when he got the stunning news that they had been re-convicted of her roommate's brutal murder and he immediately returned to surrender his passport.

But Raffaele Sollecito said that before he could get to a police station, officers swooped down on him in a border hotel in Italy, woke him up and took him in.
"As soon as I got the news there was a guilty verdict … I came right immediately back in Italy," Sollecito told NBC News in an exclusive interview.

He really seems to think that people are pretty stupid. I wonder how he got that idea ... could it be because retired FBI Steve Moore believes the 53 hours of torture lie? If a retired FBI agent can't be bothered to seek the truth, has Sollecito assumed that everyone is that foolish?

Sollecito and Knox have a long history of lying and clearly, nothing has changed in the last six years.

Yeah it's pretty hard to buy, since he was in Florence earlier that day and by that night he is found 250 miles away in Venzone, about 20 miles from the Austrian border.

And admits it being out of Italy for the verdict.

:seeya: Thanks for this link.

BBM: So . . .

Sollecito was in court in the morning -- awaiting the verdict -- and on that same afternoon, he just "happens" to be at a "border hotel" ...

Really ? Seriously ?

And this is why I do NOT believe a word that comes out Rafaelle's mouth ...

:twocents: and :moo:

I really am disturbed the way the reporter in that article stated this about Americans:

"That is how this story has unfolded. A European country convicts an American. The American watches the verdict in live streaming and then protests in a series of coordinated appearances… the whole thing chronicled in real time as if the murder of Briton Meredith Kercher were some sort of twisted reality show, not a heinous crime being tried in a serious European court of law.

Frankly, it makes a mockery of the Italian magistrates who professionally managed this appeal, and who regularly risk their lives prosecuting the mafia in that very same courtroom. Has American arrogance ever been so bold? Have the western media ever been so complicit in such an orchestrated public relations sham?"

They should look at how they dogged Princess Diana and the way their media caused her death.
They have some nerve.
And what does the Mafia have to do with this anyway? "Risk their lives"??
So this makes the magistrates infallible?
I don't know if AK is guilty or not, but the law should follow "the Law", no matter, and not the consensus of the people in the media.
Pfttttttttt.

Amanda Knox 'Will Be Extradited By US'

Legal experts suggest there is no reason why Amanda Knox should not be extradited - but the process could take several years.

America will have little choice but to extradite Amanda Knox if Italy requests it, according to legal experts.

Knox says she will only go back to Italy "kicking and screaming" after an Italian court ruled she should not have been cleared.

But expectations that America will not extradite Knox to serve a 28-year sentence are unfounded, according to lawyers.

Gemma Lindfield, a UK barrister, specialising in extradition, told Sky News: "There's a valid extradition treaty between the US and Italy.

"The countries made that agreement in good faith and there's no reason why the Italians would not submit a request.

BBM: It's up to 53 hours now ? Unreal ...

Seriously though, with respect to these allegations of "torture" and "abuse":

- NOT one complaint was filed by Knox with the U.S. State Department regarding "torture" or "abuse" ...

And you can "bet your boots" the U.S. State Department would have looked into this immediately ...

- NOT one complaint was filed by Knox's defense attorneys in Italy regarding this allegation of "torture" or "abuse" ...

And you can "bet your boots" her defense team would have looked into this immediately ...

Lots of "fiction" that has to be sorted out from the FACTS in this case ...

I just watched the GMA interview post-verdict. Her voice is constantly poised right at the edge of tears, the high tremor, on the edge of crying. This would be understandable, of course, that one might be on the verge of tears--but there's something about it that seems so forced to me, how long she sustains this tone in her voice-- like she's acting. It doesn't seem genuine. There's also a lot of word salad, talking about nothing, just to fill space, and right, not a lot of just straight up "I am innocent". It's all about being a victim. She drops in the reference to talking to the priest at the prison and makes it sound like he supports her. She wants us all to know how compassionate she is for Raphael and the Kerchers. It just seems like a performance to me. Totally unscientific, I know, and other people will read her differently. I'm just kind of fascinated by the behavior of people who seem to me to be narcissistic. The subtle ways they twist things and manipulate language, especially. JMO IMO of course!!

i did not see the GMA interview, but she has struck me from day one as an actress. Not a very good one, IMO, because I have not bought into it at all.
She is a typical narcissist, trying really hard to pretend to have compassion for others when there is only one person that really matters to her.

Well it's only just deserts for Amanda, since she and her family and team have played the "poor innocent little American abroad" card to death. :violin: And America IS an arrogant country. A little self-reflection has been needed here for quite a while. A glance through the Knox threads is enough to see that a good chunk of the American public views Europe in general, Southern Europe especially, and Italy in particular, with great disdain. And not just regarding this case - it's a general attitude Americans have towards Europe. I will not bring up all the politically-tinged examples drawn from the news and political discussion that I could from over the last decade especially. But we all know its there, if we are honest.

It's why when I go visit family in Portugal, if strangers ask, I tell them I'm Canadian lol. They know the attitude that many Americans have. And it's that attitude Amanda panders to so well.

:seeya: You "nailed it" here ... very good analysis of Knox !

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I happen to agree with the author.

I'm reading a few links that say extraditing her is already in the works, S has been picked up near a border, dk if he was trying to abscond. I guess he is now in custody. Amanda should be as well.

Reporters should report the news and not their "opinions", IMO.

If the US is going to extradite her, which I fully believe will happen, is there anywhere she could go that would let her stay there if the whole world knows that she has been found guilty of murder in Italy.

I also fully believe amanda would have made a run for the border too if she had been over in Italy. jmo

Must just be Portugal. I have been to Italy and other European countries numerous times over the years and have not experienced anything negative at all.

I fully believe that too, I also believe that once the Supreme Court confirms the conviction that there is a very good chance Amanda will try to run... heck maybe even before, maybe today.
