Police are looking for a missing woman whose disappearance was deemed suspicious after a SERT team was sent to a home in N.E. Portland late Friday night.

If you’ve seen 59-year-old Renee Sandidge, call police immediately. She’s a white woman who is 5-foot-2, 100 pounds with red hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen on foot.

A body was found at a home in the area of NE 65th and Failing, and a number of suspicious circumstances prompted the police to call in homicide detectives.

Detectives are trying to find a person associated with the home who is now missing. It is unclear at this time who that person is or if there is any relation to the dead body...

Officials said the location had a number of “security features” that made it tough for the special tactics team to secure it. It took until the early hours of Saturday for the site to be secure.

Boy, it's really hard to piece together what is going on. The report says that LE used tear gas and flash bangs at the house.

Still not clear what's going on, if Renee's a victim or a suspect:

Anna Temme, who lives nearby, said police asked residents to stay inside and warned neighbors close to the house that they'd hear some loud noises as the SWAT team worked the scene. "I heard a few really big bangs that shook my house," she said.

Other neighbors who'd been out and returned home Saturday night were asked to stay on TriMet buses that had been brought to the scene. They said they stayed there keeping warm until about 2 a.m., when officers escorted them to their houses.

Several neighbors said the residents in Sandidge's house have been in the neighborhood for years but they didn't know them well. Temme, whose house looks onto Sandidge's backyard, said a tenant may live in a trailer parked behind the home. It appeared police had searched the trailer, she said, and it looked heavily damaged from Saturday's SWAT activity.

Good Lord! What in the world was the SWAT team looking for to do that much damage to the trailer? It looks like a bomb went off!

An earlier version of this story reported a body had been found in the house, but that is not confirmed.

Also... what the heck is going on? It does sound like it was booby-trapped...

Officials said the location had a number of “security features” that made it tough for the special tactics team to secure it. It took until the early hours of Sunday for the site to be secure.

Around 11 a.m. Saturday, police were sent to the house to check on the welfare of a person living there. But they soon called for homicide detectives to join them.

Around 9:30 p.m., a SERT team deployed the tear gas and some area residents were evacuated.

Police still aren't t saying much about about the "suspicious circumstances" at a home in NE Portland that promoted authorities to call in homicide detectives yesterday afternoon.

Her disappearance is suspicious, authorities said in a release, because of “a number of factors discovered by Homicide Detectives.”

She was last seen walking, but it’s not known if she has access to a car.

Chris Mitchell, who lives across the street, said the homeowner is a survivalist, explaining that Sandidge has been in trouble in the past.

Oregon doesn't have easily accessible court records, so I can't find what she's been "in trouble" for in the past.

Homicide detectives are now looking for two people connected to a house in Northeast Portland, neither of whom has been seen since early Saturday...

Gary Alan Lewis owns the home at 3934 NE 66th Avenue. Renee Sandidge-Crowell, 59, also lived at the home. Her disappearance is considered suspicious, authorities said. Police have not been able to contact Lewis, 61, and detectives want to speak with him about the circumstances surrounding the dwelling...

I don't know how many times I've said this so far and the thread is not even 1 full page yet. But WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE???

So now they're both considered missing? But they want to talk to Gary about the "condition of the home"? Does that mean the "booby-trap" stuff? Is he missing, or are they "looking for him" for other reasons?

Homicide detectives - we don't even know yet who died ???

Exactly! They originally said there was a body found at the scene. But now they're saying they can't confirm that.

Gary and Renee are both considered "missing". Gary's wife and daughter, it's been reported, are staying with family. Is there someone else associated with the home? If so, they haven't been mentioed. There must have been quite a convincing scene, other than the "security features" / "booby traps", to have them call in homicide detectives so quickly.

Yes it's all very mysterious.

Maybe they found a lot of blood in the house and assume someone died there?

Why was the house so uber-secured? Paranoid?

For what it's worth, this is not the best area of Portland, but also not the worst. Extremely weird.
