Use this thread to post about victims found or missing from areas near I-45 in Texas, but outside of Montgomery, Harris & Galveston Counties.

I have a feeling that some of these victims or missing persons could have a connection to those from the more coastal regions.

Name: Angela Abbrederis
AKA: Angela Kim Marie Abbrederis, Nagela Kimmarie Ng, Mei Ling, Audra Abbrederis, and/or Vanessa Abbrederis.
Case Number: M9610009
Case Type: Endangered - Foul Play Possible
Last Seen in: Dallas (Dallas County)
Last Seen on: 4/2/1996
Height: 5' 8 "
Weight: 115-120 lbs.
Age Missing: 27
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Brown
Date of Birth: 10/25/1968
Race: White/Asian - although she is listed as White/Hispanic on some sites
Sex: Female
State Missing From: Texas
Country Missing From: USA

Circumstances: Angela has a tattoo of a butterfly on her right hip, a scar on her hip and has had breast augmentation. She was known to work in various men's clubs as a dancer. The day of her disappearance she didn't take her vehicle or any clothing. Her dog was also left behind in her apartment. Dental and x-rays are available.

Abbrederis was last seen in Dallas, Texas on April 2, 1996. She left her vehicle behind and did not take any of her personal belongings from her residence, including her clothes, luggage and car keys. Abbrederis also left her dog unattended inside her apartment. There was laundry left in the washing machine and piled on the bed, which Abbrederis's mother says is uncharacteristic of her daughter. There were also what appeared to be bloody fingerprints near the front door, but the "blood" turned out to be paint. Abbrederis has never been heard from again.

Abbrederis' boyfriend emptied their joint checking account after her disappearance, signed one of her cars over to himself, and withdrew money from her savings account. He told police that he jointly owned all of what he took. Investigators say the boyfriend's actions do not necessarily mean he was involved in Abbrederis's disappearance.

Abbrederis worked in various Dallas clubs as an exotic dancer at the time of her 1996 disappearance. She also has a history of prostitution. Her mother believes she was the victim of foul play. Abbrederis has family members living in Michigan and Hong Kong. She is an Army veteran. Her case remains unsolved.

Smalley and her friend, Stacie Madison, stayed at Smalley's home overnight on March 19, 1988. Both girls had disappeared by the following morning (March 20). Police know the girls were at Susan's house by midnight, but went back out.

At some point during the evening, they drove to Arlington and found an apartment full of people hanging out. They left, with plans to eat at Chili's, and said they might return, according to the police file. That night, Susan and Stacie also went to the Steak and Ale on Belt Line Road (photo included below). Stacie waited in her car while Susan went inside to talk to a coworker. Susan and Stacie left in less than five minutes. A 7-Eleven clerk later told police the two had tried to buy beer from her Saturday night, apparently before they went to the restaurant. That was the last time anyone saw them.

Since it was the last night of their Spring Break, 17-year-old Stacie Elisabeth Madison (right) and 18-year-old Susan Renee Smalley (left), both seniors at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas (a suburb of Dallas), were determined that the night of Saturday, March 19, 1988 would be devoted to carefree, youthful fun. This included shoe shopping at Prestonwood Town Center and visiting friends in Arlington.

Shortly before midnight, the two returned to the Carrollton home owned by Susan Smalley's mother. They remained there but a few minutes before venturing out into the night one last time. They would never return. Sometime after midnight, on the morning of Sunday, March 20, 1988, the girls stopped at the Steak and Ale restaurant in nearby Addison, where Susan visited with friends.

http://missinggirlsbook.com/images/-s_a_at_night_7ip2.jpg

Two days later, on Tuesday, March 22, 1988, Stacie Madison's pale yellow 1967 Ford Mustang (pictured below) was discovered in the parking lot of Webbs Chapel Village on Forest Lane - locked, with her portable stereo undisturbed on the back seat. There was no sign of either Smalley or Madison. It is believed that Stacie and Susan traveled from Steak and Ale to Forest Lane, the legendary cruise strip known to North Dallas teenagers as the premier hot spot for meeting up with friends. Original case investigator Ohlen L. Sapp asserts that, "For certain [Stacie and Susan] ended up on down on Forest Lane [and] whoever's vehicle Stacie Madison and Susan Smalley got into, they knew them." Susan Smalley was only 18 but possessed the maturity and responsibility of an older woman. She worked two jobs while earning above-average grades.

By all appearances, the girls parked and locked their car with every intention of returning to it later and proceeded to their final destination with persons unknown.

Stacie Madison and Susan Smalley have not been seen or heard from since March 20, 1988 and, in the 23 years since they disappeared, with the exception of one "person of interest" whom the original case investigators insist was never "properly eliminated as a suspect in the case," substantive leads regarding what became of the girls have never materialized.

Brandi
BrandiWells

Brandi Wells, 23
Missing Since: 08/03/06
Missing from: Longview, Texas
Classification: Endangered Missing
Date of Birth: 11/28/82
Age at disappearance: 23
Height: 4’11
Weight: 120 – 130 pounds
White Female
Hair:Blonde
Eyes:Blue
Clothing/Jewelry Description: A floral print brown and cream-colored tube top with a V cut over the hip, rust-colored gaucho pants, black strapless high-heeled sandals with a floral applique.
Distinguishing Characteristics:Wells’s nicknames are Blinky and Boo. She blinks frequently. Her hair was slightly below her shoulders at the time of her disappearance, without bangs. Her ears are pierced one time each, and she has French tips on her fingernails. Wells broke her left thumb at age ten and had a pin implanted, but the pin was removed after the injury healed.

Details of Disappearance
Wells was last seen in Longview, Texas on August 3, 2006. She planned to go to a pawnshop to get some money, but ended up going to Graham Central Station, a nightclub, instead. Wells is known to have arrived at the club at 10:30 p.m. She was unfamiliar with the area where the club was located, and had to call them several times to ask for directions. By the time she got there, her car was almost out of gasoline and she asked other customers for assistance, but it is unclear whether anyone offered to help her. She left alone shortly after midnight. She was not intoxicated at the time. She has never been heard from again.

Wells’s black four-door 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, which has the Texas license plate number J50ZTD and damage to the passenger side just above the front wheel, disappeared with her. It was found five days later parked westbound on Interstate 20 at Texas Highway 31, just outside of Longview and 300 yards west of FM 2087. Inside were some of her personal belongings, including her wallet, purse and her ex-boyfriend’s nonfunctional cellular phone. There was no sign of Wells at the scene and no indications of a struggle, but the driver’s seat was reportedly pushed back, as if someone taller than Wells had driven it last. After Wells disappeared, there was some activity on her own cellular phone, which had disappeared with her. Three people found the phone and used it. All three individuals took a polygraph test; one of them, a man, failed it. The man has not been publicly identified, and though he has been interviewed multiple times by police, he has not been called a suspect in Wells’s case.

At the time of her disappearance, Wells resided with a roommate in Brownsboro, Texas. She is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School and, in August 2006, was looking forward to starting a new job at Wal-Mart and starting classes at Trinity Valley Community College. She dreamed of a career as a kindergarten or first-grade schoolteacher. Wells may have been taken against her will and foul play is possible in her disappearance. Her case remains unsolved.

The 03/2008 article at Tyler Paper indicates that Joseph Wayne Burnette was possibly involved with the disappearance of Brandi Wells, but I can't find anything conclusive. They also link him to the killing of a local prostitute, and have a picture of his truck. I'm wondering what kind of job he had & whether or not he was able to travel, since I've read some opinions of WS members that the SK for many of these murders was probably young and attractive?

Margarette Ann Cuauhtli
Missing Since: October 11, 2001 from Arlington, Texas
Classification: Endangered Missing
Date Of Birth: October 25, 1984
Age: 16
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 130-135 lbs.
Hair Color: Brown/Black
Eye Color: Brown
Race: White/Hispanic/Asian
Gender: Female
Distinguishing Characteristics: Scar on right leg. Wears eyeglasses or blue-tinted contact lenses. Pierced ears.
Clothing: Shirt, a mini-skirt and zippered black boots.

AKA: "Ann"
Case Number: R0205004; NCMC935248

In 2002, Arlington police arrested a 38-year-old Arlington man Gabriel Emilio Cuauhtli at his home, 7006 Port Phillip Drive in southeast Arlington, in connection with the disappearance of his 16-year-old stepdaughter, Margarette Ann Cuauhtli. The arrest occurred without incident. Gabriel Cuauhtli is being held in the Arlington jail on a charge of kidnapping. He was arrested on suspicion of abducting his daughter in April 2002, and is currently serving a 20 year sentence on an unrelated charge.

Gabriel Cuauhtli initially reported Margarette Cuauhtli as a runaway to the Arlington Police Department on Oct. 12, 2001. At that time, there was no indication that Margarette Cuauhtli’s disappearance was anything other than completely voluntary. However, the nature of the runaway investigation changed in March 2002 when Gabriel Cuauhtli contacted investigators with information that his daughter did not run away, but was kidnapped. Gabriel Cuauhtli and another relative presented e-mails to investigators that were allegedly written by Margarette. Investigators were able to verify that the e-mails originated at Gabriel Cuauhtli’s place of employment. Evidence obtained from computers at Gabriel Cuauhtli’s home and work led investigators to believe that both the runaway and kidnapping reports were fabricated.

Investigators dug up an area underneath concrete that was poured only a few days after her disappearance, but found nothing.

Melissa Alaniz-Cheryl Vasquez-Marjorie Alice Knox
Circumstances of Disappearance

Alaniz was last seen on March 7, 1987 in El Paso, Texas. Her disappearance may be linked to the disappearances of several young women in the El Paso area the same year. Most women were then located murdered. Two other young women, Marjorie Knox, 14, who vanished on February 14, 1987, from nearby Chaparral, New Mexico, and Cheryl Vasquez-Dismukes are still missing and, like Melissa Alaniz, presumed dead by authorities. Police have identified a suspect in the case, an ex-convict with a history of violence against females who was paroled in January 1987 just a few days before the beginning of this string of murders and disappearances. He denied any involvement in the cases and was never charged. Good eye!

They were missing within 2 months of each other, and mere miles away... I wonder if their bodies were placed near each other? Or if the SK just came down 45 into a different region to get rid of them? Could have been a 'fishing' trip or something...?

Rosemary Diaz
Missing Since: November 24, 1990 from Dane's County Store: Danevang, Texas (map attached)
Classification: Non-Family Abduction
Date Of Birth: February 10, 1975
Age: 15 years old
Height and Weight: 5'6, 110 pounds
Case Number: NCMC748701

Rosemary's photo on the right is shown age-progressed to 35 years.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Brown hair, brown eyes. Diaz speaks fluent Spanish. She has a loud, distinct voice with no Spanish accent. She sucks her thumb. Diaz often twists her hair around her fingers while she is speaking. Many agencies spell Diaz's name "Rose Mary."
Clothing Description: A black shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, a gold pendant with an imprinted image of the Virgin Mary, and an amethyst ring.

Details of Disappearance: Diaz was last seen working her part-time job at Dane's Country Store on Highway 71 in her hometown of Danevang, Texas on November 24, 1990. She called her mother between 7:00 and 7:35 p.m. that evening from the store. The conversation terminated when Diaz stated a customer had arrvived. Customers discovered the store was abandoned shortly after Diaz phoned her mother. Diaz's vehicle and her belongings, including her purse, were still at the store, but there was no sign of her. She has never been heard from again. "That day, a local man who wore an eye patch and was nicknamed "One-Eyed Joe" had snapped a Polaroid photo of Rosemary, police say. The picture was found on the store counter. According to Marek, the man was interviewed and cleared, yet the circumstances around the photo remain unclear."

Authorities do not believe Diaz left of her own accord. She was an honors student at the time of her disappearance and was excited because her older sister was about to bring over her infant for Diaz to meet for the first time. Investigators determined that the only possible evidence of a struggle inside the business was a soda machine that had been moved three to four inches from its normal resting place, and a small dent on a filing cabinet. The cash register was found closed and no money was missing; robbery was evidently not the motive for Diaz's apparent abduction.

Amanda Gail Slaughter: Endangered Runaway -- Missing Since: April 28, 1991
Missing From: Orangefield, Texas
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 140 lbs
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Amanda has a suture line on her inner calf and she wears glasses.
NCMEC #: NCMC767467; TDPS R9106001
NCIC Number: M-489111877
The Doe Network: Case File 365DFTX

Amanda left her family's residence in Orangefield, TX during the early morning hours of April 28, 1991. She took all of her personal belongings and emptied her parents' wallets. That same night, another neighborhood friend of Amanda's also ran away.

A year later, Slaughter's friend returned home safe. She refused to say where she had been and what had happened to Slaughter. (((What??? This is just not acceptable!))) She may travel to California or Washington. .......Rumors indicated the girls were dancing in strip clubs in Houston, but their mothers went to several such places and did not find them.

Slaughter has a history of running away from home, but she had never been gone for an extended period of time before. Her mother believes she ran in 1991 with an older man, possibly a 19-year-old Caucasian male. She thinks they moved to the Tacoma, Washington area and Slaughter used the alias Paula Michelle Henry. Slaughter's mother has not been able to prove her theory, however. She believes her daughter may be now be living in Houston, dancing in strip clubs under an assumed name.

After Slaughter disappeared, her family started receiving many phone calls where the caller would not say anything. The calls stopped about four months after Slaughter vanished. Authorities traced them to Galveston, Texas, but could not determine whether they were from Slaughter.

If Amanda is dancing at a Houston nightclub, she is doing it under an assumed name because police do not have a record of Amanda or the alias in their system, said Sgt. Stuart Harris, Houston Police Department missing persons supervisor.

Exotic dancers are required to register with police in Houston.
In regard to the above quote - this is incorrect.

A dancer only has to register for a SOB (Sexually Oriented Business) License if she is dancing inside Harris County, and doesn't want to wear full back bottoms and pasties. You have to obtain those licenses from the Houston Police Department in downtown Houston, and nobody in their right mind would strut into a police department with a fake ID trying to get a SOB license - you must also divulge what club you work in primarily, get fingerprinted, have all tattoos and scars photographed and recorded, and be photographed yourself... AFTER they run your ID for warrants, etc.

If you're buying or borrowing an ID from someone with which to do this, you must have a LOT of trust in that individual to not get you arrested once you're in there.

However, in Galveston County, there is no such licensure to obtain. Therefore, the calls from Galveston make sense, if she is dancing down there. Additionally, there are relatively few topless bars in Galveston County - I wonder if they scoured those and handed out photos to the clubs and to all of the police departments down there? If someone was trying to make cash while dancing and maintaining a low profile, they wouldn't go to the big glitzy places in the city - they would go further south... Less competition with other professional girls, less questions asked, lower living expenses further south, and the ratty clubs are more likely to hire underage girls (or those without proper identification) since they have less to lose than the big incorporated places.

So, keep your eyes out for women missing after leaving clubs between Galveston and Louisiana... Even though the name might be wrong, or age is off a bit, try to match photos...
