Oscar Pistorius: South Africa gears up for its 'trial of the century'

(CNN) -- He was one of South Africa's favorite sons, an amputee track star who defied all the odds and sprinted into the hearts of millions during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was a staggering beauty with the brains to match, a law graduate and model whose star was on the rise.

You mods have fed us so well through this crazy trial. Thanks so much.

Thank you Liesbeth, it was Van Rensburg. He said that the second bedroom had looked used, toothpaste and toothbrush in the bathroom of that room.

It was the upper sitting room that was locked.

I post on another forum talking about OP's trial as well & I tried several times on there to point this out to them but nobody was interested in even discussing it so I thought I'd try on here...it makes no sense whatsoever that a witness wakes upon hearing loud crying, states catagorically that all she heard that night was loud crying but her immediate thought was that a security guard had been shot.

She absolutely must surely have heard a bang or a shot or something prior to the crying.

I was amazed when Nel didn't pick up on what she had actually said, as imo it was one of those moments where a witness says something without realizing the significance of what they've actually given up with their testimony.

i wonder if the ballistics guy is up next.

I do wonder if Reeva had decided to sleep in the spare room after arguing with OP. Him and Ms Stander would have had the time to put her bag and sandles into OPs main bedroom before the police arrived.

I agree. And IIRC, didn't she also say she wondered where 'the lady' was?

Today I've brought Mohn Streuselkuchen (poppy seed crumble cake) with me. I took the photo outside where the light's good and was mobbed by birds.

ETA: Lol, that looks upside down!

I also brought that up on a YouTube chat, after which people began to pick up on it in retrospect. I hope that witness is recalled so she can be questioned further on that point, but I'm likely to believe she's getting out of the jurisdiction before someone catches on to her inadvertent slip.

Anything is possible because we only have OP's word for what happened that night although then you would think the shooting would more likely have happened in the spare bedrooms bathroom.
This case is very difficult to figure out .

I thought Carise wondered about 'the lady'? I probably have it wrong, though. <<-----goes back to tent in Twilight Zone.

I honestly can't remember if that was her or Mrs M who said that. If it was the same witness then I'm even more flabbergasted that it was allowed to slide by Nel. I've just tried to google it but I can't find a reference as to which witness said that.

I wonder if Nel just didn't bother picking up on these points because he just regards it as evidence after the fact and has previously said he doesn't dispute much after the shooting ?
I am quite sure Nel will have picked up on it if we did ?

IIRC it was Carice who mentioned 'the lady'.

Sometimes I watch the trial & I'm surprised by the things that Nel lets slide. There have been other incidents where he's seemed to have missed things & I just feel

Oh, yum! Thanks, zwiebel!

*Good morning from sleepy Louisiana, USA, everyone!

I'm of the feeling at this point that all Nel has to ask on cross is "And your testimony... means... what?" and that's about it. He can sit and wait for Roux to blubber out an apology for his lacking witnesses or to ask Nel to question his witness further.
