[h=1]Trooper: More questions than answers on woman whose body was found along Route 711[/h]
The body discovered Monday along Route 711 near New Florence was so badly decomposed it was “physically unrecognizable,” a Westmoreland County deputy coroner said.

An autopsy completed Tuesday provided few clues to identify the woman, or what caused her death, Deputy Coroner John Ackerman said.
“It appears she was (deceased) for quite some time – longer than a week,” Ackerman said.

Investigators have described the woman as a white female who was wearing black workout pants and red shirt.
Ackerman said Tuesday’s autopsy provided “a couple possible leads” that his office is pursuing to try to identify the cause and manner of the woman’s death.

But because of the status of the ongoing investigation, he said it was too soon to elaborate.

Limani said state police have more questions than answers about the incident.

It’s not known if the woman died there – or simply ended up there – but police were trying to answer “a lot of questions” in the case, he said.

“We don’t label cases suspicious. But we have a woman found dead along the side of the road – it’s not like this was a hiking trail – in a rural area that’s not consistently walked,” Limani added, noting there were no signs of a crash either. “So those are the things ... that have us asking more questions.”

My first thought was that she was running and hit by a car, but it doesn't sound like it's that kind of area.

This area, like many others, has been hit by the opioid epidemic. In nearby Indiana County, three people were just charged with leaving their friend's body on the side of the road after he overdosed. I have heard about a second case of this in Indiana County as well. This is just one possibility that crossed my mind for this UID. It's not out of the realm of possibility that she was walking on the roadway and was hit, either.

IDENTIFIED - Laura Rebecca Ingalls-Hood - Homicide

The decomposed female body found over an embankment in Fairfield Township has been identified as 33-year-old Laura Rebecca Ingalls-Hood, she went by Laura Hood.

Results from the autopsy indicated her death was a homicide, officials said.

The body was found over an eastern embankment off PA Route 711 in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County.

State police said the body was that of a female but did not provide an estimate of the person's age or how long she had been dead, when her body was discovered. The body was discovered around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

"They were working on the highway. They had cones up and everything, and then all of a sudden everybody just disappeared, Then, the next thing I know, there was ambulances, and state police and everything out there," Robert Barley, who lives on the opposite side of Route 711 from where the body was found, told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.

This area is a few hundred yards south of Mirror Lake.

State police said Hood was wearing black workout pants and a red shirt.
Police were asking residents about what they'd seen and how often people are seen walking in the area.

"There's a graveyard right up here and there's cars in there all night long, you know," Barley told Pittsburgh's Action News 4. "I don't know what they're doing and I don't care. It's none of my of my business. But anything could happen, you know what I'm saying. "I'm sorry for the girl, whatever happened to her and everything. But I don't know her."

State Trooper Stephen Limani released a statement saying, "if anyone has any information or observed unusual activity in that area, please contact Trooper Lauricia at 724-832-3240.

"Hood’s body was found not far from where she lived with her fiance.

State police say Hood wasn’t reported missing, so establishing a timeline of when she was last seen or when anyone last had contact with her is difficult."

If she lived with her fiance but he didn't report her missing that seems suspicious I would think.

I grew up in this area in the 80s and it used to be Mayberry. It’s really unreal what it’s become.

This has a bit of different info. http://whjbfm.com/police-believe-body-found-in-fairfield-there-as-long-as-3-months/

State Police now say that Laura Ingalls-Hood’s body may have been lying beside route 711 in Fairfield for as long as three months.Family members told police that they had not heard from her for that amount of time. They said they didn’t report her missing because it was not unusual for her to be out of contact for a while. Police also say that Hood’s 18 month old baby was not missing and has been taken care of for the time she was missing.
Her body was found by crews trimming trees along Route 711 last Monday morning. State Police are hoping that someone may have seen something unusual in that area and will contact them.
