VM is the mother of one of his children, lives in Florida now.

Right... Davis is in general a common name...
but in that dysfunctional family, I am not so sure what is really up.
BUT I am not sure all the Davis relationships in this family were determined.
Or are not intermingled.

Mario Andrette McNeill could receive the death penalty if convicted of killing 5-year-old Shaniya Davis.

That was what Judge George Franks told McNeill during a hearing Friday at the Cumberland County Detention Center.

McNeill, 29, of the 2600 block of Pine Springs Drive, was charged Thursday night with first-degree murder and first-degree rape of a child. He faces life in prison without parole on the rape charge.

McNeill attended the short hearing with his lawyer, Allen Rodgers, by his side.

McNeill's mother also attended the hearing. She made no comments to the media.

McNeill was already in jail, charged with first-degree kidnapping of Shaniya, whose body was found Monday off Walker Road in Lee County.

Following Friday's hearing, McNeill was transferred to Central Prison in Raleigh for safekeeping until his next court date on Dec. 9.

Rodgers didn't indicate whether McNeill would plead not guilty to the charges.

I did read it this morning and am thrilled that the DP is on the table. I assume that Now that SOB will really throw momster under a truck, maybe he can get LWOP and mooooch free Room and board/Health Care/Education....

The DA has not announced whether or not they are seeking the DP. The judge just let MAM know he was charged with 1st degree murder and that the possible penalties are LWOP or DP. DP is always "on the table" for 1st degree murder in NC, but not always pursued. I suspect it will be in this case though.

I think that obit had to have been written by AD's mom. How would BL know all those Davis aunts, uncles, great grandparents? He barely paid attention to his child much less all those extended relatives.

I heard on the early morning news today that Lockhart is saying now that Shaniya's mother traded her to cover a drug debt. She must have owed Mario a large amount of money for drugs and they decided that Shaniya would be an acceptable trade off. I hope they both get the needle. It took Lockhart long enough to admit that the mother was into drugs.
