GUILTY ID - Steve Kalogerakos, 42, Idaho City, 28 Dec 2007

Mothers day has passed again,a very sad day for Steve's mother.Since the holidays were special to Steve and he would never let one go by without calling,It's even more reason to assume the worse. His Nephews are all in baseball this year, the youngest looking more like Steve than ever,His sister still going through sleepless night imagining the worse. And the people they belive to be responsible are still walking around free...Pray for Justice ..We will never give up...

No one on this thread is very clear about what happened the day Steve K went missing.
It is helpful to all of us if details are available, in one place.

I searched the internet, found some articles, etc.
Topix forum was mainly fighting among the posters.

1. Steve K goes missing Dec. 25 or Dec. 28, 2007.
2. His roommate says he was evicted from the trailer on that date.
3. Steve had told his family that he was fighting with his roommate and
his girl friend.
4. Steve called his family almost every day.
5. Steve's car and all his belongings were left at the trailer.
6. No one in the family has heard from Steve since late Dec. 2007.

Questions:
1. Why did he move to Idaho?
2. Where did he live previously?
3. Did he meet his girl friend after coming to Idaho or did she move there with
him?
4. Did the girl friend live at the trailer also?
5. Was the trailer in town or outside of town?
6. Did the roommate say who came to pick Steve up the day he evicted him?
7. Were the roommate and girl friend given a lie detector test?
8. Who has possession of Steve's car now?
9. Where did Steve work?
10. What have his co workers had to say about his disappearnce?
11. Was Steve involved in anything like drugs?
12. Does the family have an NCIC number for Steve's case?
13. Does the family know if adjoining states were notified of Steve's disappearance?
Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington?

I had not heard of this case until today.
Hoping for the best for everyone.

Yesterday was Steve's Birthday and it passed without a phone call from Steve once again. Each holiday that passes without any word becomes clearer and clearer what has actually happened to Steve. There is no way that these holidays could have passed without word from him,He was very big on these special occasions.I would imagine that this is how Joushua Reddingtons mother felt over several years with no word from her son either. Both of these people were never heard from again after being with the roomate that evicted Steve. It is quite clear it was more than an eviction, and a querel.Until this person snaps and hurts saomeone else it doesn't look like much will be done.

Through interviews Rogers says they believe Kalogerakos' roommate, Mike Dauber, was the last person to see him.

Dauber is associated with another missing man from that area. I'll see if he has a thread here. His name is Josh James Reddington. Dauber was the last known person to see both men from what I'm reading.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who remembers my brother. He was a good man no matter what you hear. We miss him dearly and those who know something please come forward and help us come to a closure.

Idaho City is a very small town of about 400-500 people. There were several other people missing from Idaho City and the surrounding Boise County (pop. 6600-7,000) area during this time.

FBI now involved in Boise County cold case

The Boise County Sheriff's Office hopes to dig up new leads in a 2007 missing person case by bringing on the FBI and Idaho State Police.

It’s a case that dates back to Dec. 28, 2007. That’s the last day anyone saw Steve Kalogerakos.

[snip]

Part of that information deals with a person of interest, Mike Dauber. Dauber is also a person of interest in a missing person case from 2000, involving Joshua Reddington from Salmon, Idaho.

Steve Kalogerakos' sister Maria, who spoke to KTVB over the phone from her home in Chicago, believes Dauber is more than a person of interest.

This is mostly older info from a message board on this case, but still interesting.

I searched Mike Dauber in the Idaho Judiciary website, and there is only one recorded case, a small claims suit from 2011-- assuming it's the same Mike Dauber (it shows his residence as Idaho City). Was he still living there that recently?

Arrest made in this case... Michael S. Dauber.

I know several people disappeared from Idaho City around the time and other places in Idaho. Hopefully more information will come. RIP Steve.

According to the Idaho Statesman....

"The first major step in the case came about five months ago, when Kalogerakos' body was found in the Idaho desert an hour or so from Idaho City, said his sister, Maria Kalogerakos. He had been shot, she said".

"News of the body's discovery was never publicized, even in Thursday's news release about the murder arrest".

Has he been found?

New article "Roeber can't say what that evidence is at this point, but we do know through Kalogerakos' sister that Steve’s body has been found and recovered. That happened in late 2013...."

and

"Some questions could be answered when Dauber is in court on April 10. On that day prosecutors will argue over a bond amount and likely give details as to why Dauber should remain in jail through the trial."

"Gee said that Dauber shot Kalogerakos with a pistol, then used an ax and a bone saw to cut his body into pieces, put them in a plastic bag and then a ruck sack, before dumping the remains in a shallow grave in remote mountainous area several miles outside of Idaho City".

"Gee further claimed Dauber admitted to people that he not only killed Kalogerakos, but that he’s killed other people as well. He said Dauber claims to getting a high when he kills someone. No further details were given about the claim of other murders, but Dauber has long been considered a person of interest in the disappearance of Joshua Reddington from Salmon. Dauber was the last person to see Reddington in 2000".

According to KTVB...In regards to Joshua Reddington

Pohto said her son was working in Polson, Montana doing helicopter logging. She was proud of him, and said he was even looking into enrolling in college.

"He had changed his whole life around," she said.

In 2000, during the Memorial Day weekend Josh and Mike Dauber, a coworker decided to travel to Boise to get some belongings.

That was the last time Pohto saw her son.

"Josh and Mike Dauber stopped here, and they were here about an hour and visited with me," she explained.

After Reddington didn't return to work in Montana, Pohto called Dauber and asked what happened.

"He said that they got into a big fight or argument, and he wasn't going to take him to Boise," she recalled.

Looks like Mike Dauber worked in several places. Anyone missing from Montana around that time? I wonder if Ahren Barnard could be a victim. There are MULTIPLE people missing from Boise County and other areas. I don't think these 2 victims, Reddington and Kalogerakos are the only two. Maybe the only two he got caught for. I wonder if we should track the places he lived, etc? What is his motivation? Money? Rage?

Might want to look at Dauber for other crimes/missing people....
