GUILTY OK - Kristi Ferguson, 25, set ablaze, died from burns, Talihina, 18 Feb 2012

According to court documents filed in the murder case against Harris, Ferguson ran to a neighbors home after being burned and was followed by Harris. According to witness statements Ferguson was sitting in a chair at the neighbors home as Harris was telling her to shut up and not to say a word. One of the witnesses noticed Ferguson was unclothed and severely burned and as the neighbor helped Ferguson, she claimed Ferguson told her Harris poured gas on her and lit her on fire.

Following a Dec. 18 LeFlore County jury’s recommendation and specifying death by lethal injection, District Court Judge Jon Sullivan imposed the sentence on Donnie Lee Harris Jr., 31, for the March 9, 2012, death of Kristi Ferguson, 25, of Pocola.

The jury found Harris guilty of dowsing Ferguson with gasoline in the late night hours of Feb. 18, 2012, then setting her afire. Ferguson suffered burns, most of them third-degree, over 42.5 percent of her body. Ferguson died 19 days later of complications from her injuries.
