PORTLAND, Ore. -- The first accounts of 7-year-old Kyron Horman's disappearance were a parent's nightmare: A boy vanishes from the safe haven of his elementary school.

But over the course of two months, shock has turned into frustration as the case has taken bizarre twists. Suspicion rests on the boy's stepmother, who is mute about what happened the morning the child disappeared, while lurid tales of infidelity and even a murder-for-hire plot swirl

2 Months Later, Where Is Kyron Horman?

And still, after the largest missing child search in Oregon history, the question remains: Where is Kyron?

Kyron investigators want more info from DeDe Spicher
KGW Posted on July 31, 2010 at 8:54 AM
    Updated today at 4:55 PM

Sources - including people who have spoken with investigators - tell KGW that DeDe Speicher was cooperating more now after an appeal from Kyron's parents that she be more forthcoming.

However, investigators believe that she has still has not told them everything she knows.

KGW has learned that investigators have conducted several searches related to Speicher, including of property belonging to relatives of hers. They have also spoken with people who were in contact with her the day Kyron disappeared.

Portland aunt of missing Ariz. boy: 'It could happen to anyone'
KATU Story Updated: Jul 31, 2010 at 6:58 PM PDT

    'We ask ourselves 'Why?'"

Like so many, at first Andrea Wagner couldn't believe the story surrounding Skyline School's missing second grade.

"With Kyron, when I heard the news about him I went home, I held my kids and I thanked God that that couldn't happen to me," said Wagner. "And that's not the case, you know; it could happen to anyone anywhere and it's just the most devastating thing you could ever imagine."

It's devastating because her 2-year-old nephew Sylar Newton has been missing for nearly a week.
