    POSTED: 6:12 pm PDT September 7, 2010
    UPDATED: 7:52 pm PDT September 7, 2010

Volunteers reassembled a sprawling collection of toys and messages for Kyron Horman at its new home outside a northwest Portland fire station.

The Wall of Hope was moved Aug. 29 from outside Skyline School to the nearby Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue station on Skyline Boulevard. On Tuesday, the first day of the school year, Kyron's father joined the effort to place the chain-link fence on new posts.

"I don't know really how to describe it," Kaine said. "It's a good day, and I'm glad that it's here. I'm glad it stayed in the community where we all belong, and we're all a part of it. It's just really a good day."

Desiree Young, Kyron's biological mother, sent out a statement Tuesday expressing her hope that her son will be home soon. "We hope and pray that Kyron will be able to come home for his birthday," she wrote.

"What's right for him will be when he gets back and he'll have a desk when he gets back, but I told her if it was gonna be too hard for the students to not leave it open and we'll get one and put it in there when he gets back."

Kaine was also part of a group of people who helped erect the Wall of Hope at the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue station Tuesday.
