Desiree Young marks Kyron's 8th birthday with gathering in Medford

The birth mother of missing Kyron Horman held an 8th birthday party for him in Medford Thursday night.

Hundreds of people gathered at the West Main Church of Christ to tell stories and pray for the safe return of Kyron.

"We always, every year, have a big party for Kyron, every year, and he looks forward to it every year," Kyron Horman's birth mother Desiree Young said.

Community, parents celebrate Kyron’s 8th birthday

Kyron’s Wall of Hope has been a constant the last three months for Kyron’s family and the community. It’s packed with well wishes, prayers, flowers, toys and now Happy Birthday wishes.

But it isn’t the only wall scattered with birthday wishes for Kyron. The Missing Kyron Horman Facebook page now has more than 76,000 friends from all over the world. It’s full of cheerful comments for Kyron and his family.

Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, even posted a picture of Kyron and her together at the beach, and she recounts those first moments when Kyron was born.

Kyron’s father, Kaine, chose not to comment on his son’s birthday. He said he wants it to be a private day for his family.

Medford birthday party for Kyron 'full of hope'

Young thanked everyone for attending then shared an anecdote from her 13 hours of labor with Kyron.

"The very first thing he did was pee over the nurse who had delivered him into the oxygen mask that was waiting for him," said Young. "And so the nurse said, well, his plumbing works."

Happy Birthday, Kyron
Friends and family keep focus on missing boy by celebrating his eighth birthday in Medford
September 10, 2010

Family and friends of Kyron Horman released hundreds of red balloons into the Medford sky Thursday evening as they sang Happy Birthday to the missing 8-year-old.

"That's his favorite color," said Desiree Young, Kyron's mother, watching the balloons drift to the southwest.

About 200 well-wishers at West Main Church of Christ ate cupcakes to celebrate Kyron's birthday on Thursday.

Kaine Horman drops contempt of court motion against Terri Moulton Horman

Kaine Horman has voluntarily agreed to drop his motion to find his estranged wife in contempt of court stemming from the alleged sharing of a sealed restraining order.

A Sept. 21 hearing had been set on Kaine Horman's motion, which will now be cancelled.

Horman Contempt Of Court Complaint Dropped

Kaine Horman has dropped a contempt of court motion that was filed against his estranged wife earlier this summer, FOX 12 has confirmed.

It's not clear why the contempt of court motion was suddenly dropped.

Attorneys for the Hormans could not immediately be reached for comment.

Kaine tells KGW: "We need to get this wrapped up."

Kaine told KGW that dropping the motion also serves other purposes.

"It's an act of good faith on our part," Kaine told KGW. "It shows that we're serious about not wasting the court's time with side issues. We want to get the divorce wrapped up so we can deal the important things and move forward."

Fundraiser under way for Kyron search efforts

Sunday's event was being held through 9 p.m. at the Family Fun Center & Bullwinkle's Restaurant at 29111 SW Town Center Loop West in Wilsonville.

Participants pay $15 for an unlimited amount of games, including Go-Karts, Lazer Tag, and Miniature Golf -- and $4 of that cost goes to help fund the search for Kyron.

"It's Kyron's favorite place, and it's all about Kyron today," said manager Darren Harmon.

The effort was organized by the creators of the Missing Kyron Horman Facebook page. The event is also to celebrate Kyron's 8th birthday, which was on Thursday.

Kyron's cake uncut: 'When he comes home he can have his cake'

Hundreds of people turn out for a birthday party honoring missing 8-year-old Kyron Horman Sunday.

The event is being held until 9 p.m. at the Family Fun Center and Bullwinkle's Restaurant in Wilsonville. At the party and search-fund fundraiser, Kyron's parents talked about why - even though it is painful for them - they needed to hold this celebration.

That's because Kaine Horman and Desirée Young both say this is Kyron's day. That means this party is all about him, and not about how they're feeling.

And this, they said, is what he'd like for his birthday: a day at Bullwinkle's and a red-tree-frog cake.
