Judge Belvin Perry warned Jose Baez and attorneys on both sides that he was displeased with what he believed to be “game playing.”

Judge Perry: 'This Is Not A Game
William Rodriguez, who is a co-founder of the so-called “Body Farm,” took the stand first. The state objected to his testimony and asked that they be allowed to voir dire Rodriguez over opinions he gave that they claimed violated a court order.

Perry said that withholding Rodriguez’s opinions from the court and the prosecution would be an offense punishable by contempt.

Dr. Werner Spitz, testified about the autopsy on Caylee, as well as the one he performed.

Casey Anthony: Dr. Werner Spitz takes some big hits

<snip>

Dr. Werner Spitz, the renowned forensic pathologist, had a rough day as a defense witness at the Casey Anthony trial.

It was painful to watch Spitz, who has had a long, distinguished career. A friend said that prosecutor Jeff Ashton did what he had to do in cross examining Spitz. Might the jury sympathize with Spitz? Some TV analysts certainly weren’t.

Sheaffer said Spitz offered a ”ridiculous hypothesis” that duct tape was put on the dead Caylee Anthony. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Hornsby praised Ashton for a thorough job of cross examining Spitz. “I don’t think there’s an attorney in this town that really thinks that Dr. Spitz convinced that jury of much of anything except that he’s an old guy,” Hornsby said.

NeJame supplied his own answer: “How would the defense know to have asked that question if it wasn’t contained in the report?”

WESH-Channel 2 reporter Bob Kealing said that Baez looked “stunned at the end of that stinging rebuke from Judge Perry.”

Judge O.H. Eaton Jr., legal analyst for WESH, said that Perry could fine Baez up to $1,000 or jail him for up to six months or both. Eaton wouldn’t predict what Perry would do.

Here's why Casey Anthony does not deserve death penalty
"Snip" Mike Thomas COMMENTARY June 18, 2011
:maddening:
I am beginning to wonder if Casey Anthony and José Baez could pull off the impossible.

Not exoneration from the jury but a death sentence from the judge.

We do not have executions by democracy, and if found guilty, Casey does not qualify for the needle.

This case demonstrates everything that is wrong about capital punishment.

Is Casey worse than:

Richard Adams
, the Lake County father of 8-year-old Kayla?

Eric Patrick Fletcher shook his baby to death in Port St. Lucie. He got less than five years.

Michael Dubisky left his 4-month-old son blind, suffering from cerebral palsy, seizures and other problems. The boy died six years later. Dubisky left prison shortly thereafter.

Alexandra Tobias of Jacksonville shook her baby to death for interrupting her on a computer game. She got 50 years.

In Florida's history, only one woman has been sentenced to death for killing her child.
Ana Maria Cardona of Miami starved and tortured her 3-yr old before finishing him off with a baseball bat and dumping his emaciated 18-pound body. Her 1992 death sentence was overturned, and a second judge imposed a second one earlier this month.

Remember Susan Smith? She claimed a black man kidnapped her children. It later was learned she drowned them, one 3 years old and one 14 months, so she could have a relationship with a man. In other words, the children were infringing on her lifestyle. Does that sound familiar? She will be eligible for parole in 2024.

Casey has a cold heart and a sociopath's skill for lying. But in the world of monsters who kill their children, the accusations against Casey Anthony hardly stand out.

A death sentence for the murder of a child requires premeditation or aggravated child abuse.

The main evidence of premeditation in this case consists of computer searches Casey apparently made three months before Caylee's disappearance for terms such as "chloroform."

That's suspicious and interesting but hardly so irrefutable it warrants jabbing a needle in her vein.

Given the state of decomposition of Caylee's body, there is no evidence of how she died, so there is no evidence that her death was so heinous or cruel as to warrant a death sentence.
