Marlene Baker - Orange Co. Corrections - used to work Lima unit of womens detention center for 7 years...kc always pleasant even waking out of sleep....is she at a current PC status? I am pretty sure she is...cell size 6' X 8' for 23 hours a day - usually causes quite stress....cause any inmate for most part some type of problems being in that cell confined 23 almost 24 hours per day - so yes....her plesant demeanor wouldn't change unless she was upset about some thing - she would cry...not often - fair to say always plesant...smile around you? she smiled quite often - yes...despite conditions she was under - her behavior consistent from day she got there to day you left? yes

DIRECT EXAMINATION BY JB

She is employed at Orange County Corrections. She worked in the dorm where ICA was housed. She observed her from the time she was first brought in to the time she left in 2010. She saw her on a daily basis for a year and a half.

She described her demeanor as pleasant. When they did their visual inspections in the morning, she always had a pleasant attitude, even when they woke her up.

She was under PC status. The cell is 6 x 8. She was in there for 23 hours a day.

Does this often cause inmates quite a bit of stress? Yes.

Especially those facing the death penalty? All of them. It would cause any inmate, for the most part, some types of problems.

The only time her demeanor changed was when she was upset about something. She would cry. That would not be often.

She was always pleasant.

She smiled quite often, despite the conditions she was under. Her behavior was consistent the entire time.

No questions by the State.
