I am curious if defense will say RA is NOT the man in the BG photo in their closing arguments. If he admitted it to them and they know that he is, they can’t lie about it, right? Or can they?
Except that RA never admitted he was the bridge guy. He said he was at the Bridge up until the first platform that day. The prosecution needs the jury to believe the the bridge guy was indeed RA AND that he raced down the bridge and abducted the girls. And the jury saw only the original unedited video. No character drawings no enhanced video.

RA admitted he was BG in his confessions. But my question is related to if RA told his attorneys that he was BG, or not.

The phone thing does bother me. The girls could not have been moved but the phone could have been. If it was turned off then moved to a stationary location, turned back on in airplane mode and tampered with and then returned to the crime scene. I am in no way saying this happened but it has been debated in the past why the killer left the phone there. I still think RA is the killer most likely.
But to be realistic---the entire area was swarming with people searching for the girls. Some stayed all through the night.Would the killer be coming and going from the crime scene just to tamper with the phone? It was never unlocked or used during that time. So why risk life in prison to return a phone and place it under your murder victim?

Why plug in headphones for 5 hours if they were never used for anything ? The phone was never unlocked or even used at that time.

I have to go with what makes the most sense. The phone was wet and a commonly reported glitch occurred, which was that the sensors alerted to some debris in the audio port, which set off the headphone notification. Phone never moved nor was unlocked. No hands touched it. It is a nothing burger. Just like the female relative's hair at the scene--A nothing burger being exploited by the Defnse, imo.

OP was asking about if RA had told his attorney's he was BG would they be able to lie and state he wasn't.

McLeland talks about Chris Cecil’s forensic examination of Libby’s phone, how he got health data from it. He says that data confirms when the girls were at the bridge. He says GPS shows where movement was at 2:32 p.m. and that there was no more movement after that.

He goes over the timeline with witnesses, when they arrived, where they went. He says Breann Wilber arrived at Freedom Bridge at 12:25 p.m. that day and walked to the high bridge. She took a photo at 1:26 p.m. at the bridge. He says she ran into Bridge Guy while walking back to Freedom Bridge.

McLeland tells the jury about Betsy Blair passing a camera at the Hoosier Harvestore, heading to the high bridge. He says Kelsi German’s car was also seen on that camera, passing it after she dropped the girls off. He says Blair saw a man on the bridge and passed Libby and Abby as they arrived on the bridge.

He says the Bridge Guy video was taken at 2:13 p.m. He tells the jury Libby’s phone stopped moving at 2:32 p.m. He says that Sara Carbaugh passed the Hoosier Harvestore camera at 3:56 p.m. and said she saw Bridge Guy and he was “muddy and bloody.”

McLeland says “if we can determine who Bridge Guy is, we can determine who killed Abby Williams and Liberty German.

Except that RA never admitted he was the bridge guy.

Sounds correct.
He said he was at the Bridge up until the first platform that day.

That is true.
The prosecution needs the jury to believe the the bridge guy was indeed RA AND that he raced down the bridge and abducted the girls.

Not sure about race down...

But the jurors need to believe that RA is BG and BG is RA and that whoever Libby filmed was the last person to see her and Abby which is BG.
And the jury saw only the original unedited video. No character drawings no enhanced video.

Two versions and one was enhanced to improve the image and audio.

“He forced them down the hill with a gun,” McLeland tells the jury.

He says Libby said in the video, “that be a gun.”

He shows the jury an enhanced version of the Bridge Guy video.

McLeland says law enforcement interviewed people on the bridge that day. He shows a photo a witness took of Freedom Bridge. He recounts Bre Wilber saying she saw a man on the trails “walking with a purpose.” He shows the jury Besty Blair’s Fitbit information. He talks about Sara Carbaugh seeing a man ‘muddy and bloody’ on 300N.

I feel like Libby might have said “Abby…a gun”. Neither here nor there, though. A reasonable jury may ponder if RA is BG, but they will have no problem agreeing that BG did order the girls down the hill to their murders.

Looks like the prosecution are being very methodical with their timeline and showing it step by step. I understand the courtroom has been difficult to get information out of but if every day had been written in this step by step format, then I don't think there would be as much misinformation. However I do understand it must be incredibly difficult to get things in order and sent out in timely manner without messing some of the information up

He did admit that he was bridge guy, dozens of times. I think the jury will connect the dots. IMO

McLeland says “if we can determine who Bridge Guy is, we can determine who killed Abby Williams and Liberty German.

If I were a prosecutor I don't know whether I would have said this statement. Why would they not say that they believe Bridge Guy is Richard Allen...and stop talking? Or better yet If YOU can determine that Bridge Guy is RA then you will know who killed etc. etc. Or moreso why use the word "if"? Puzzles me.

I agree. Those girls' were intelligent. I think they would use proper English.

He might be using that to lead into the arrest of RA and how all the evidence points to him being BG. Then the confessions.

I know what you mean though.

McLeland moves ahead to 2022. He describes Kathy Shank finding the lead sheet regarding Richard Allen. He describes Shank taking the tip to Tony Liggett, a detective working on the investigation. He describes conservation officer Dan Dulin downloading a photo of Allen from the BMV.

McLeland says that it was determined that Allen’s car was the only 2016 black Ford Focus registered in Carroll County in 2017. He says former sheriff Steve Mullin went to the Hoosier Harvestore and got footage from the camera there of Allen’s Ford Focus at 1:17 p.m.

He says that on Oct. 13, 2022 Mullin called Allen in for an interview, he says Allen confirmed that we was wearing the same clothes Bridge Guy was wearing.

Because BG is easily determined through the totality of the evidence. BG is RA.

McLeland tells the jury that Allen said he saw three girls, but in the interview he changed the time he was there. He said Allen became angrier as the interview went on. He shows the jury photos of Allen’s Ford Focus in the garage during the search of Allen’s home.

He says they found the blue Carhartt jacket in Allen’s home. McLeland says “surprise surprise.”

McLeland says they found the Sig Sauer .40 caliber handgun and cartridges that were the same brand and caliber as the cartridge found at the crime scene. McLeland calls it a “Bridge Guy starter kit.”

He says they found a memories box and that box contained a .40 caliber cartridge. He says investigators found many electronic devices, but not the phone Allen used in 2017.

McLeland tells the jury that Allen searched “should I die now,” after looking at Delphi news in April 2022.

He tells the jury that Melissa Oberg found the cartridge at the scene cycled through Allen’s handgun and her work was verified.

That time change is absolutely huge, especially because of how damn transparent it was. He’s leaving around the time he initially said he arrived. There’s no innocent reason to change that, and with the passage of time a reasonable answer would be the same as the first, or a simple “I don’t remember.”

Changing story to fit the evidence. So common it’s almost a cliche.

NM says BG is RA, but also acknowledging the questions in the minds of the jury. Smart to do so.

He tells the jury “February 13th is a day Delphi will never forget.” He says the state has proven that Allen is Bridge Guy. He tells the jury “the State has done just that.”
