McLeland tells the jury that Allen said he saw three girls, but in the interview he changed the time he was there. He said Allen became angrier as the interview went on. He shows the jury photos of Allen’s Ford Focus in the garage during the search of Allen’s home.

He says they found the blue Carhartt jacket in Allen’s home. McLeland says “surprise surprise.”

There are videos by KA of RA wearing a strikingly similar jacket to BG months before the murders too.

McLeland says “if we can determine who Bridge Guy is, we can determine who killed Abby Williams and Liberty German.

If I were a prosecutor I don't know whether I would have said this statement. Why would they not say that they believe Bridge Guy is Richard Allen...and stop talking? Or better yet If YOU can determine that Bridge Guy is RA then you will know who killed etc. etc. Or moreso why use the word "if"? Puzzles me.

Because that original video footage is really poor - low resolution.

Hard to say who the man is really.

Libby did her best and is smart to have done it, but unfortunately it was all over the place. Apparently, you can barely see anyone - even Abby was a bit of a flash.

No one can really say who BG is with that video nor any of the witnesses that day which is why the timeline is important to the State, also, nothing really ties Richard Allen to the crime like DNA.

The State needs to convince the jurors that RA is BG whereas the Defense needs to create beyond a reasonable doubt.

The jurors should be reminded of that as well, as in the State carries the burden of proof not the Defense.

He says Allen confirmed in an Oct. 26, 2022 interview that he never loa[ne]d his gun or clothes out to anyone. He said Allen confirmed he did not loan anyone ammunition.

McLeland says “there is no explanation for how his bullet ended up there.” He says Allen’s wife Kathy was brought in for questioning and during the interview Allen manipulated her.

McLeland says Allen was arrested because he is Bridge Guy.

If they believe that bullet evidence it’s game over on that alone.

The question is how much weight they give it.

We're hours or (likely) days away from the jury handing down their decision here. I'd much rather be the prosecution than the defense, but the division in this case tells me that anything is possible. I'm absolutely convinced of his guilt, but if the jury is not, a spectacularly dangerous man could go free. There would be no celebrating our "system working" if that's the case.

I'm not worried about him doing this again (killing kids), but I am worried that he's the type to carry out the threats he's allegedly made in that local jail. He's an angry man who could be out for revenge.
Not only is he an angry little man with alcohol dependency,
that will be out running bar to bar and who knows where else
BUT
There will probably be some locals that would like to run into a drunk, mouthy, angry little man, one who threatened to kill some county correction officers/ guards and was on the trails/bridge to kill 2 young innocent teenagers.

Interesting. I do not remember reading that the jacket was found.

As someone that still lives and grew up around the Illiana area, I and almost everyone I know own some form of those jackets. The majority being tan.

Carhartt is still extremely popular around this area for every day (even some summer) wear. Rural King (Big R) sells a ton of it so having that jacket isn't strange in itself but the fact that he has that color is a bit peculiar.

Add the jacket to the list of little things, that by themselves do not add up, but together become pretty telling.

Question then becomes how he avoided getting anything on it?

True. Am sure the most convincing bullet expert is what any of them would lean towards, however, some may weigh up both experts arguments if critical thinking is involved.

McLeland talks about calls Allen made in prison to his mother and wife. He describes a call Allen had with his mom where he says he has found faith. He plays a call with Allen’s wife where Allen says “I killed Abby and Libby,” his wife says “no you didn’t, dear, they are screwing with you there and I am trying to get to the bottom of it.”

He shows the confession letter Allen wrote to the warden. He shows the report from Dr. Wala on April 5, 2023 where Allen said his intentions were “sexual in nature.”

News 8’s Kyla Russell reports Allen is shaking his head during this.

McLeland tells the jury that Wala said that Allen’s behavior changed after his attorneys visited and that the shift in his behavior was intentional and that he was not psychotic.

McLeland reads multiple confessions made by Allen in prison, including one Allen made about using a box cutter to kill the girls.

McLeland says Allen told his mother in May of 2023 that “I wouldn’t sit here and tell you I did it, if I didn’t.”

He didn’t, as SC saw him covered in mud & blood along 300N.

What happened after that is anyone’s guess. I speculate he wore layered clothes & removed all top layers at his car, threw them in a trash bag in his trunk & drove away, burning the clothes later & replacing anything like the jacket with something new or from Goodwill.

I agree. I just don’t see a happy ending for RA if he’s freed, especially if he doesn’t have someone trustworthy to be dependent on. It wouldn’t surprise me if his wife has had enough of that. JMO

I wonder if Ricky thinks the bigger bible he brought to court today is going to save him?

Oh, and an outside coffee. Maybe his last one?

A bit of a show. Big bible/little bible - the words are the same.

SBM

It is certainly true that the video is not very sharp and clear, but IMO it is infinitely helpful.

It rules IN a man whom I believe strongly resembles RA. It very helpfully rules OUT what otherwise would be complete guesswork——it clearly depicts BG enough to know that it is a male, not a person of color, not a group of men together, not wearing clothing unlike what RA said he wore.

It also affords us audio. We hear his voice, and LE and court have heard snippets of the girls speaking, as well. This helps in identification and in determining how near BG was to the girls, and where he commanded them to go.

IMO then the video is a treasure and I applaud Libby’s wherewithal to record him as best she could.
