    Victims of Crime

Many of us have been victims of crime, and it can be a shattering experience . We're working hard to get the level of crime down but we're also reforming the justice system to put the needs of victims first.

By putting victims and witnesses at the heart of the justice system we believe justice will be done more often and more quickly. We also want to improve the experience victims have when they come into contact with any part of the criminal justice system, to ensure they are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

This section provides information on what to do if you become a victim of crime and how to find help.

Victim Support is the national charity which helps people affected by crime in England and Wales. We give free and confidential support to help you deal with what you've been through as a victim or witness, whether or not you report the crime to the police.

    http://www.pact-online.org/

PACT is an international, non-profit organisation, registered in the USA and the UK. It was founded in 2000 by Lady Meyer, wife of the former British Ambassador to the United States. Its patrons are Cherie Blair, wife of the former British Prime Minister, and Laura Bush, the First Lady of the United States.
PACT’s initial mission was to fight parental child abduction across frontiers by raising awareness of a growing, but little-known, problem and by advocating solutions

    http://www.pact-online.org/pdf/A_Postcode_Lottery.pdf

A Postcode Lottery, published in November 2006, maps out for the first time, the role of different agencies in the UK and the services they provide to missing children. The study which reveals a wide variation in service provision aims to build a platform for improving the strategic planning and funding for services across the UK.
