According to an online dispatch, troopers received a request for a welfare check for Shanna Oman on June 9 from someone who said she left their residence off McGrath Road in Fairbanks at around 12:30 a.m. June 3.

“The complainant was supposed to give her a ride back to Eagle River,” troopers wrote. “He assumed she made other arrangements until her roommate called stating she had not returned home.”

On June 12, troopers said, they received information Oman had been at a cabin near Mile 23 of Chena Hot Springs Road. Troopers said they were able to confirm Oman had been at the cabin but walked away on June 4. Troopers said the cabin owners allowed them to search the property bordering the Chena River, but found no sign of Oman. Search dogs and a trooper helicopter were used in the search.

Troopers said Oman was carrying a cellphone, which last pinged near the area of Mile 17 of Chena Hot Springs Road on June 4.

The search for Oman is ongoing. She is white with strawberry blonde hair, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call troopers in Fairbanks at 907-451-5100 and reference incident AK19037617.

Well, wouldn't the complainant (the man whose cabin she was visiting who reported her missing) have known immediately what her plans were on how she was going to get home when she left the cabin? He was supposed to be her ride back home, but when she left his cabin he "assumed" she had made other transportation arrangements other than him driving her back home?

Sounds very suspect to me.

It does sound fishy at first. Perhaps she left in a car with someone else? It goes on to say that she showed up on June 4th at a cabin on Chena Hot Springs Rd. The two roads are over 28 miles apart:

So how did she get there? I wonder if they have any evidence other than her cell phone pinging and the word of the residents placing her at that second cabin...

It does seem odd, but we don’t have many details at this point. Maybe he fell asleep and when he woke up she was gone. It says she was last seen at 12:30 am. He could have planned to drive her home that night or the next morning, but if she got impatient maybe she left on foot.

Thank you for finding that link, @Secrett! Her friends are using Shanna's FB page as an informal "Find" page, with information about searches, etc. Since this is not an official "Find" page, I do not think we can discuss the information posted by others on Shanna's page, but reading the comments and replies does give a bit of background information. It is also interesting about the location of the search.

In Post #1, it was mentioned that the cabin's property bordered the Chena River, and was near Mile 23 of the Chena Hot Springs Road. The Pleasant Valley Store is at Mile 23 of the Chena Hot Springs Road. The cabin would have to be located in the general area between the store and the Chena River, which would be south of Chena Hot Springs Road. There are roads, both named on google maps, and unnamed on google maps, in that area, in addition to what appear to be cabins. There are houses on the google named roads, but the cabins appear to be off the dirt roads, closer to the river. Those dirt roads do have names (I found a name for one of them on zillow.com), but google maps just hasn't labeled them. Here is a map of the area, IMO, that the cabin is located:

Details of Disappearance​

Oman disappeared after leaving a residence off McGrath Road in Fairbanks, Alaska at 12:30 a.m. on June 3, 2019. She is from Eagle River, Alaska, but was visiting a friend in Fairbanks at the time of her disappearance. Her friend was supposed to give her a ride back to Eagle River. When she dropped out of sight, he assumed she had made other arrangements to get home, until her roommate called and said she never arrived home.

Oman was at a cabin on Pleasant Valley Road, near 23 mile Chena Hot Springs Road, after leaving the McGrath Road residence. The owner of the cabin said she "walked away" on June 4. Searchers checked that area, which borders the Chena River, but found no indication of her whereabouts. She has never been heard from again.

Oman left all her belongings behind, including her money and her dog. She did have her cellular phone, but the phone battery was dying the last time she spoke to anyone. The last ping on her phone was near the area of 17 mile on Chena Hot Springs Road on June 4. The circumstances of her disappearance are unclear, but her family believes she's deceased.
