Best interest of justice? Maybe.
Best interest for public safety? Unlikely.

If the prison itself is creating this need for transfer by preventing his attorneys access to their client as was the case when he ended up in the jail he escaped from, then the justice system is failing miserably in the same way again.

A reporter should look into why virtual client-attorney meetings from the prison or meeting physically at the prison is really not able to be accomplished for convicted violent offenders. Especially ones who have successfully escaped a facility before!

So the defense team wants their client moved from his state prison to the county jail for better access to prepare for the December trial.

Hmmm...and just today, in a different, unrelated case, I learned about a defense team that argued (for bail release) how the county jail is seriously impacting their defense because the typical attorney-inmate visits are only two hours in length, and the 3,000+ pages of documents they need to share with the jail inmate have to first be copied by the jail where the inmate receives the copies and the jail keeps the originals. Common sense is again overrated. MOO

Playing the same game he did previously.

2020 - Authorities discovered CW had a plan to escape and take a hostage and had a makeshift knife on him. Upon the discovery, CW was transferred back to the state prison

From the link:

...Casey White was being held at Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama, between August 2021 and February 2022.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton says there is a possibility the two plotted the escape over the phone, this cannot be confirmed until all phone calls have been listened to.

According to Singleton, Casey White and Vicky White developed a relationship while Casey White was being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center during the summer of 2021. Casey White was held in Lauderdale County at the request of his attorney for better access.

Casey White was later moved back to Donaldson Correctional Facility, where he shared phone calls with Vicky White nearly four times per day. Between August 2021 and February 2022, WAFF reports that Sheriff Singleton says Casey White and Vicky White shared 949 phone calls. They shared phone calls on an average of about four times a day, according to Singleton.

Casey White was moved back to the Lauderdale County Detention Center on Feb. 25, 2022.

Are they saying 946 calls from the 6 months from August 2021 to Feb 2022? That averages 155 to 160 calls a month or like 5 or 6 calls a day. How can that even happen, especially when one of the people is incarcerated?
Yes, the period Aug 2021 - Feb 2022. The calls averaged about 4 x a day.

I'm watching Dateline Weekend Mystery (https://www.nbcnews.com/dateline/video/dateline-weekend-mystery-preview-breakout-149353541698) and it's a very similar case to this one. A woman who ran the inmate dog program "fell in love" with one of the inmates and helped him escape and they went on the run together.

The warden mentioned a lot of prison employees are let go because they get too close to the inmates.

Edit: What's great is the woman survived the ordeal and is able to share what was going on in her heart and head at the time. I imagine Vicky would have said similar things if she was still here.

Edit #2: The conclusion was very similar. The inmate was driving the truck she bought with police in pursuit. They ended up going off the road in a median. The woman said she prayed that they would hit a tree and she'd be killed because she didn't want to deal with everything. It makes me think if she had access to a gun like Vicky did, she might have killed herself as well.

Court documents show that Casey White is currently scheduled to have hearings on Oct. 11 for multiple motions including a motion that argues that the death penalty is unconstitutional in this case. Casey White then has an arraignment in the case scheduled for Dec. 2.

A motion filed by the prosecution urges the court to move the arraignment up to Oct. 11 for “judicial economy.” The idea is that if he is already in court for multiple things on Oct. 11, then it would be easier to move everything to that day.

The prosecution also urges the court to set the trial for Dec. 12.

Lawyers for CW do not want to move him.

CW will now be arraigned on Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. in Florence, AL on the felony
murder charge relating to the death of VW.
