Personally, if I was AB, quick plea deal, move on....but, he will probably tantrum, and want a trial.
agreeI doubt a jury would convict him. He was handed a gun proclaimed cold, on the other hand the firearms specialist obviously did not check the gun. As far as I know Baldwin did not bring the gun to the set, that would be the job of the armorer. That's what they pay the prop handlers for. They need to find out who put live rounds in the gun.
That was a rumour early on and they found no evidence of that.Cast members target-practiced in down time, resulting in live rounds getting mixed in with blanks. Playing fast and loose in the NM desert.
my opinion only
Halls entered a plea deal. You would think that the prosecutor already offered deals to Baldwin and Gutierrez, and they declined. Not to say this can't change. Just a guess. JMO.No Longer Available

I am by no means an AB fan, AT ALL. But if I was him I wouldn't agree to plea to much of anything here.No Longer Available

If there is documentation that he was supposed to follow a specific protocol or procedure when handling a gun, and he didn't, that is liability right there.I am by no means an AB fan, AT ALL. But if I was him I wouldn't agree to plea to much of anything here.
Do you think he would fare better with a Santa Fe jury trial? Seriously interested.I am by no means an AB fan, AT ALL. But if I was him I wouldn't agree to plea to much of anything here.
As far as we know (big disclaimer) the live rounds were quarter or half charge, hand loaded training rounds identical to those made by an associate of the supplier of dummy rounds to the film. They were made to train actors on an earlier, unrelated film and leftovers were passed around in the local community of prop weapons suppliers. By a process no one has publicly explained, it appears that some of those training rounds got mixed in with the dummy rounds and nobody caught it.
To my knowledge no one has asserted that any of the live rounds were full charge factory ammunition or has put forth an alternate explanation of who produced them.

I'm not so sure about that. Sounds like under the first charge, simple negligence may be enough. BBM.If there is documentation that he was supposed to follow a specific protocol or procedure when handling a gun, and he didn't, that is liability right there.
That could be civil liability, not criminal.
This is interesting to me. Of course we don't know all the evidence the DA has, but as a criminal defense attorney, I see lots of holes here.

Let's see what Halls says under oath at a trial. Per the FBI, the gun would not go off unless someone pulled the trigger. Would you rely on what an Assistant Director (not an armorer) tells you about a gun? JMO.I see the defense poking holes as well. I too am NOT a fan of AB at all. But, this isn't like a home shooting where a live gun and a live round exist and were inadvertently shot. This is a movie set where the actors think of these guns as "play" guns. They don't treat them as a real gun - which may not be right either! This is the movie industry. They play make-believe every day! However, he was handed a gun that he was told could NOT harm anyone. I think David Hall held more responsibility. I wonder if the DA is trying to appease the public. I do hope that Hollywood is listening and takes some action to change their policies regarding gun usage in movies!
I have wondered if there were any recorded moments of this day.
What were the misstatements? I didn't see the entire interview. That special AB did, that made him look like the victim, is going to nail him. He made more "mis statements" and "embellishments" during that show...and it is all evidence. Or rather, prosecution gravy train!
