I'm still trying to understand what it is about the Knox interviews that made me uncomfortable. Is it possible that she is suffering severe post traumatic stress disorder and that she has not sought help in coping with her emotional turmoil?
Has she sought help?
Regardless of whether she is guilty or innocent, but especially if she is innocent, she should have regular counselling sessions to cope with her experience. I can understand that, if she is guilty, she would not want counselling, as the counsellor would most likely identify her complicity in the murder during that counselling. If she is innocent, unless she receives counselling right now, the remainder of her life will be messed up because of her experience in Italy. I hope she isn't thinking that "all you need is love" to cope with emotionally difficult situations that span several years. If she is innocent, there is no reason for her to accept that one experience defines who she is, but I get the impression that this is how she is handling her experience ... sad, in a way.
I got a kick out of her description about going to Europe as a "kid" and returning as a "mature woman" ... even this is absurd when you see her post-Europe halloween costume: cat burglar (burglar? after spending time in jail for a murder where money was missing?). She has also been photographed post-prison wearing army boots and other not-so-mature-woman outfits. She seems messed up, but the question is: was she ever not messed up? Was the controlled, scripted woman that sends out "red flags" on camera the same woman that seduced men on trains and at classical music concerts? If so, I suppose it's not PTSD ... it's monster-like, like Arias and Anthony.
Simply put, is the woman we see today a singular expression of her experience in Italy, or was she always like that?
I think her role models in life are very confusing to her, and she seems to have a dysfunctional relationship with both parents, who did not see eye to eye with her going in the first place. She needed to individuate from both parents which is normal behaviour for young people. She was just in no way ready for it. There were issues irresponsibility before she left.
So she left as a damaged immature irresponsible drug using thrill seeker.
Her sojourn in Germany points to more immature resistance being responsible. She left the relatives with egg on their faces in a very public way, after the trouble they went to find her some work experience.
She was seeking unfettered thrills away from parental exposure, another normal thing for a young person to do.
But doing it anonymously on a train in public in Europe is extremely risky behaviour, no wonder they tested her for HIV, it was a highly likely outcome along with many STD's.
She continues her risky behaviours, but now involves her flat mates who express concerns about their own risk, because she brought random anonymous men back to the flat. She only lived there a short time, and on top of this there were issues with her personal hygiene which needed to be addressed. She was the same age as Meredith, and Meredith had no issues of personal hygiene.
I think they were right about her unconventional behaviour, it wasn't quirky, it was very very risky.
She appears oblivious to her effects on others
Now she was adding drugs into the mix of irresponsible immature behaviour, and hooks up with a similarly damaged young man with violent fantasies of a highly pornographic nature and a drug habit who is also irresponsibly immature, but a little older and maybe more damaged.
They had each 'lost' a parental figure during development, which can leave horrific scarring and buckets of repressed anger, but for a while they were free of 'nagging parents' externally physically, and internally too.
The were both behaving like immature uncontrolled id's of children.
Now we have two damaged irresponsible immature personalities both fleeing parental exposure, thrill seeking and drugged up to the eyeballs on who knows what.
They are very sexually attracted to each other, but can't really converse because they have limited understanding of the others language, so shallow passions at best, fuelled by drug use.
So they don't even know each other, just full of lust and more thrills away from any parental censure.
Meredith behaved like a responsible person and addressed issues with AK.
In AK's mind she may well have viewed this as parental censure, when she wanted to be an irresponsibly free child.
It was a dynamic that shouldn't be ignored...
I have absolutely no trouble believing that they are responsible for this crime. But they continue their irresponsible behaviour now
helped by their parents, when it is far too late.
They even seek to profit from it whatever the skewed motivations are.
Her father has stated publicly that she will receive no counselling, which is another element of risky behaviour altogether. If she does have PTSD and she might, that is of no help to her at all.
As a 'mature' although very damaged individual, she should decide her counselling, not him.
I'm starting to have some difficulty with immense number of victims in this case.
It begins with Meredith Kercher and Patrick Lumumba, but there are hundreds more, including a whole country who have done nothing wrong but exercise their right for Justice on behalf of the victims.
Two damaged drugged up nobodies is chicken feed in a highly cultural sophisticated environment.
