    Amber Shawnell Hoopes

    Endangered Missing

    Missing From: Idaho Falls, Idaho

    Missing Since: September 14, 2001

    Age: 20 -- Height: 5'5" -- Weight: 140 lbs -- Hair Color: Brown -- Eye Color: Brown

Amber's upper left ear is pierced.

Amber was last seen in her grandparent's home, where she lived, at approximately 10:30 pm on September 14, 2001. Her grandparents saw her reading in her room at that time. One of her grandparents woke up at about 1:00 am and noticed Amber's television and lights were turned on but she was not in her room.

Amber's grandparents owned an auto body shop that adjoined their residence. Amber sometimes used the computer there to email her friends. The monitor was turned on, but there was no sign of Amber. One of the shop's pickup trucks also vanished the night Amber disappeared. It was discovered abandoned in a nearby parking lot shortly after.

Keith Glenn Hescock has been investigated for possible involvement in Amber's disappearance, as well as the 1993 disappearance of Stephanie Crane. Hescock kidnapped a 14-year-old girl in 2002. She escaped from him, and he later committed suicide. Authorities haven't been able to definitively link him to either Amber or Stephanie's case, however.
