Family searching for answers in 1975 murder of 9-year-old girl

"Carl and Jeane couldn't find Anna anywhere. Lieutenant Detective Jeff Seevers with the Cold Case Task Force in the Washington County Sheriff's Office told Dateline the couple reported Anna missing later that night. The searches ended on August 13, 1975, when a neighbor discovered Anna's body under a bush. She was found only 1,000 feet from home"
She has a half-sister who is pushing the case. Both her mother and father have passed away.

"DECISION AND JUDGMENT ENTRY

EVANS, J.

This is an appeal from the judgment of the Washington County Court of Common Pleas, which dismissed the charges against Defendant-Appellee Carroll Brown due to pre-indictment delay.

Nine-year old Anna Marie Brown disappeared on August 8, 1975, at approximately 8:00 p.m., from the Southgate Trailer Park where she lived with her parents. A neighbor discovered her body under a bush on August 13, 1975, in the same trailer park approximately one hundred feet from the trailer of the appellee, her uncle. ...

Based on the initial investigation, the Washington County Sheriff's Office developed a list of three possible suspects. One suspect was David Ray Luton...

The second suspect was Charles Boyd...

The final suspect, and the one investigators believed was most likely the killer, was the appellee. Appellee is Anna's uncle, and several witnesses placed Anna and the appellee together shortly before Anna disappeared...."

Anna Brown was last seen on August 8, 1975 near her home in the Washington Township in Marietta, Ohio. Her body was found five days later near her home. She just was nine years old. Her uncle was indicted for her murder in 1997, but his case was later dismissed. Her murder remains unsolved....
