Eighteen-year-old Debbie Summers was found dead in a ditch on Highway 286near Conway, Arkansas in September of 1975. Not from the area, she was unidentified for days. Found at the scene with her were her diary, a pack of cigarettes with a Tennessee tax stamp and a bottle of whiskey from Oklahoma. She was apparently hitchhiking her way around the country.
Sadly, they have little to go on.
More info, a possible confession....but enough details wrong that it's questionable.
Thanks for posting this case but specifically what was the cause of death? Unless I missed something, the Findagrave entry doesn't even directly say that she was murdered.
Average women commonly hitchhiked in 1975 so she should not be judged by today's way of thinking in that matter.

Just as a point; because she was shot with .410 shotgun shells does not necessarily mean that she was actually shot with a "shotgun". The .410 shotgun shell will fit in a .45 Colt revolver and can be fired through such a gun.
