Arizona has 919 cases as of this morning. Our governor D. Ducey, R, isn't restricting much other than stay home, only go out if you need food or vehicle fixed, hair done, need to play golf or pick up food etc... Bars and dine in restaurants have been closed for over a week, unless take out or delivery are closed. Hair salons, golf courses are still open among other ridiculous businesses. Tucson Mayor shut a lot down in Tucson on Friday that the state isn't following but pick up food from a restaurant come on! That's personal contact with a potential food worker, fresh germs. jmo granted food in stores may have contact by someone at least you cook it first via grill, stove or microwave. Wipe down boxes your food came in from the grocery but It's prepared fresh food. again. I asked a few businesses their practice and sadly, they aren't wiping down much if at all or are the workers wearing masks. jmo

We are a tourist state, Ducey is trying to balance the states budget. No care about the spread that I've witnessed yet. Promoting more hand made food to the elderly though.

Our hair salons are still open! His wife owns several...Golf courses open...he plays golf... We don't have tests and I've read Ducey will only count the reporting on commercial tests. There's to be 50k per day made this next week by a company for all of the US. 50K per day will surely include the hardest hit like NY, CA etc...but AZ needs these rapid tests now.

I feel like a red headed orphan, which red headed I am, but come on AZ and Ducey! We need reliable numbers and testing testing testing before you make decisions upon my life, my family or friends lives!

AZ has the lowest testing in the US.

Arizona ranks last in the nation for coronavirus testing. How is that acceptable?

A new COVID-19 test can return results in 5 minutes

A new COVID-19 test from the medical device company Abbott can return positive results in five minutes — and it can be run in a doctor’s office. The test was approved for emergency use in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration last night.

The test uses Abbott’s small, portable ID NOW platform, and doesn’t have to be sent to a central lab for analysis. Instead, it can be done directly in an emergency room or urgent care clinic, which could cut down on the days-long wait time some patients now face for test results. Doctors could take a swab from a patient’s nose or throat and insert it directly into the machine, and have results within 15 minutes (it can take up to 13 minutes if the sample is negative for the virus).

(I'm watching this thread! Can't add here what I want to say but I am watching!)

No kidding.

Arizona releases less COVID-19 data than many other states. That could be changing soon

That should improve in the coming week, because Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order Tuesday that requires more data reporting to the state related to COVID-19. The move came after The Arizona Republic reported on growing frustration and confusion about the limited information.

Hospitals now must report daily to the state several new statistics related to positive or suspected COVID-19 patients.

Those include the:

  • Number of inpatients.
  • Number of ventilators in use.
  • Number of intensive care beds in use.
  • Number discharged from the facility per day.
  • Number seen in the emergency department per day.
  • Number of intubations performed per day for respiratory distress.
  • Estimated number of N95 masks, surgical masks, face shields and surgical gowns used per day.
