Oh..... I think I just unapproved about 14 posts that I meant to move to the graphic thread. I have been having a horrid time with staying logged in today. I keep getting kicked out right in the middle of trying to get things done.

I'll find the posts and fix it up.

In the meantime, please keep the graphic discussion located in the graphic thread.

    Thanks!

    Salem

Unlike LM, this special woman brings honour and hope to those struggling with mental illness.BBM

    http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/201...inda_chamberlain_honoured_at_camh_porter.html

"Schizophrenia survivor and activist Linda Chamberlain honoured at CAMH: Porter"

"Chamberlain was a patient here off and on for years. She later got a part-time job as a peer support worker on the very floor she’d lived on.

She founded the Dream Team, which advocates for supportive housing for mental health survivors. She runs a charity fostering the pets of mental health patients while they’re in hospital. She plays the bongos in kindergarten classes despite being sick with cancer."

You couldn’t ask for a more inspiring story. I imagine patients sitting in that nook, reading about Chamberlain and feeling a twinge of hope"

Thanks for that article, dotr! Indeed, when dogs (sometimes cats) are brought to CAMH the animals make a world of difference. With *some* patients.

The animals are kind, loving, gentle, non-judgemental and they ask for nothing in return.

    A true blessing.

Magnotta lawyer wants murder charge downgraded"

    By Brian Daly, QMI Agency

"A second-degree murder conviction would still carry a life sentence, but Magnotta could be eligible for parole in as little as 10 years as opposed to 25.

Sun Media crime specialist Ross McLean said Leclair is trying to limit the potential damage to his client.

"The good news for the lawyer is if he can get it limited right at the start at second-degree, the jury can't find him guilty of first-degree," McLean said"

The judge thus far has not been willing to accommodate any of Leclair's requests, so if history dictates, I'd say no... she won't go for it. Let it stand on Murder One, and let the jury decide.

Hoping you're right, ChelleBelle! :please: I know the judge has been strict so far, let's hope she doesn't cave now!

    QUESTION:

Memory of past prelim trials is failing me at the moment - IF this thing goes to trial, WHEN would the trial begin? I mean, does the court make everyone wait many months OR does the court start reasonably soon after the prelim trial?

And, of course, we must think of a change in venue situation.

    Thanks in advance........:eek:hdear:

Here in Canada, we'll be looking at upward of a year before the actual trial starts. Spring of 2014 at the earliest.

I suspect Leclair will try to petition for a change of venue, just by his complaints so far with information released that he doesn't feel Magnotta will get a fair trial in Montreal, and that he's having trouble finding experts who can communicate in English. I posed this question to Ross McLean, and from how I understand it, he would need to make that argument during jury selection. I guess we'll see!

So his symptoms were largely paranoia, auditory hallucinations and fear of the unknown? This doesn't really represent how he behaved before, during and after his crimes. JMO

And THANK YOU for posting the letter! xo

Thought this was an interesting quote from in-courtroom journalist Justin Ling - from his twitter account:

"Luc Leclair: "The Crown's case is pure speculation. What can we infer from the evidence? [Speculates wildly.]" #Magnotta"

    Unbelievable.
