As a former Human Resource Specialist, I can comfortably say that none of the above should have cost her a job.

Of course, there's job protection ... but downsizing solves the problem. Does a dentist really need one employee to focus solely on scheduling, or could another employee include that in their job description.

I'm afraid to even discuss my thoughts on this case and sadly, that's keeping me away from this thread. No matter the state of her life she did not deserve to be harmed by another human being but I think discussing the high risk lifestyle is important (for potential future victims living high risk lifestyles) and is not bashing if done with respect. I'm keeping up with the news but they are wrong so much of the time that I like to look here for links of media with possible slivers of truth. I think I'll stick with media reports from now on though cuz I'm afraid anything I may say may be portrayed as bashing and that's the last thing I want. I pray Robyn is safe and well and will be found.

A woman being drunk or sober, when disappearing, is a bit like a working woman (prostitute), or a career woman (suit person), being found murdered down the street - investigators and sleuthers read it differently.

But they are just as important!! I usually care more about the ones with "issues" because I myself have/had issues so I tend to empathize more with them.

Thank you SO much for expressing this so well.

Once again, your gift for articulating thoughts is exceptional. :)

You are saying it right , Columbo==alcoholism is a problem that needs treatment. Perhaps I have made this too personal an issue. I am a recovering alcoholic, with 30 years of sobriety and know firsthand the kind of heartache this brings to ones life.
I am only trying to say (and I guess not very well), Alcoholism is so much more than a yes to #6 and #7 on a questionnaire, and a few fights with your boyfriend because you have had to much to drink.
How can you say "it is clear to me she is an alcoholic". With all due respect, those are the kind of "judgements" we have no right to make .
I also cannot see how anything RF has said in his many interviews has helped find what happened to Robyn Gardner, and that is the ONLY reason he should have for wanting to be on TV as much as he has. IMOO!:twocents:

Congrats on your 30 years!! :woohoo:

I haven't read every post here, but it appears that two folks got together with questionable pasts and went to Aruba. (The same Aruba where Natallee Holloway from Alabama went missing several years ago).
Now, a woman is missing after accepting an offer to go on a trip to Aruba. As far as I know, nobody from this "missing" woman's family is raising questions about her disappearance except for the former "boyfriend".
Where is she from? Maryland? Can someone provide a link where the news/newspaper is covering this?
