[IMG]Actress Helen Wagner, who played mild-mannered Nancy Hughes on the CBS soap opera "As the World Turns" for more than a half-century has died.

She held the Guinness World Record for playing the same role on television for the longest amount of time, 54 years.

I remember my great aunt watching that show when I was a kid. After lunch, she would go into the den & turn on the tv to she her "show."

In the article it mentions that show being interrupted for the breaking news that JFK had been shot. Every documentary I have seen about the assassination shows that clip.

So sad! She was just on the show a couple of weeks ago when Bob and Kim renewed their vows. Such a great lady.

I'm sure the ATWT family will miss her greatly.

Back in the day, this soap and others were only 15 minutes long each day. This is how things went down:

    Monday:
Nancy to Chris-"Did you hear Bob's news?"

    Tuesday:
    Chris to Nancy-"No, dear, I didn't."

    Wednesday:
    Nancy-"He's met a girl."

    Thursday:
    Chris-"What! You don't say!"

    Friday:
Nancy-"Yes, and I think it may be...."

    Monday:
    Nancy_ "...serious."

    Tuesday:
    (enter Bob) Chris-"Hello, son."

    Wednesday:
    Bob-"Hello, Dad."

    Thursday:
    Nancy-"Bob, dear! Is it..."

    Friday:
    Nancy-"...true?"

    Monday:
    Bob-"Whatever do you mean, Mother?"

    Tuesday:
Nancy-"Oh, Bob, you know what I mean."

    Wednesday:
Chris-"Oh, fer pity sake, Nancy, get to the..."

    Thursday:
    Chris-"...point!"

    Friday:
    Bob-"What's for dinner?"
