Ashley Madison cheating website hacked, July 2015

Yes, exactly!

I've worked in medium sized companies where the backing up was handled by quite junior staff, and done daily, in the larger companies I've worked in it was handled in IT. I've never worked in that area, so I'm not sure if outside contractors would have similar access .. also it could be possible that information was backed up to a server not located in the same building because that could be possible and if so then that server would have to be held by another company and they'd have access.

Just the fact that the files are a smattering from a number of departments, and as mentioned in the article, many of the files would be time consuming to accumulate, yet are almost valueless, I'm really thinking that the breakdown in security has happened in the data backup.

Agree. They should have set up a bit coin system instead of having people use their real credit cards. But I guess bit coins makes it harder for membership renewal. Lol

I do wonder if Viagara plays a part in SOME of the high profile cases of "older" men who have gotten in trouble in the news in the past X number of years. I have wondered about this for quite some time. Its not the only reason of course but I do wonder it plays a role in SOME of these types of cases.

All I know is I have been quite shocked at some of "older" individuals who end up in these sorts of situations when I don't recall that particular age group having many issues like this before Viagara came out. Again to be very clear, just think it can play a role in SOME of the cases where we would not ordinarily think the person would be of the age to get caught up in something like this.

I think what has led me to think along these lines is there have been some people where I had thought about this due to their age and then the person did confirm they also had taken that particular drug. Without mentioning names I can think of one particular talk show host that had some sort of sex scandal and I think it was confirmed he was known to use the drug. So I had to wonder if there is a tie there in some cases.

Even if it doesn't make the persons mind want to do wrong things just the physiological part of the medicine may be a factor in that person wanting to explore other opportunities so maybe its a cause and effect thing even if it is not mental effect.

Its an interesting topic and I think it was brought up in other cases before

Anyone remember the viagra commercial SNL did years ago.

Hi Everyone,

We can all agree that there are many families that are torn apart by no doing of their own concerning the A.M. hack.

That's why we are not going to allow links that somehow get you to the files that have been dumped for people to read. This includes sites that have posted clients lists, emails, and so on.

It's one thing to discuss the mess Ashton has created for himself. It's another to be a party to making what should have been private information more known to the public at large.

Websleuths does not want to pile on the hurt and pain by being a jumping off place for people to look over the lists to see if they know someone who used their site.

Feel free to keep the discussion going but please let's leave the private individual's information out of the discussion.

Thank you,
Tricia

The cheaters are incredibly wrong and it's a sleazy thing to cheat no matter with whom, or any other circumstances.

But, has anyone else been reading of the suicides linked to the doc. dump? It's begun.. Men who were led to believe AM was discreet and private are now killing themselves instead of facing their wives.

What the heck kind of world do we live in, fellow posters?? All of it makes me want to cry, but suicide? There are so many other alternatives. It's all sleazy, and some of it is taking tragic turns. I expect there to be some wife suicides as well. THEY are ones truly hurt by this!!

I agree with sentiments posted that I'm torn between not wanting the information public as it has the potential to destroy lives, but also knowing that light needs to be shed on hypocrisy and deceit.

Another public person is being exposed today, the husband of one of the Real Housewives of NYC.

"'I signed up for the site foolishly and ignorantly with a group of friends and I deeply apologize for any embarrassment or pain I have brought to my wife and family,' he told People in a statement on Monday." (my comment: yeah, right.)

And that's after he initially said this:

"It is what it is but somebody is definitely fraudulently using my name and number."

The whole story is a train wreck.

Obviously, for some people this is not ok behavior. I wish that this would be a wake up call for the world that people need to deal with their issues instead of degrading themselves and the others in their lives.

I bet there are a multitude of spouses not even looking or concerned about this, either they don't want to know the truth or they are oblivious and clueless. I asked my guy last night if he knew who Ashley Madison was and he really thought it was a person. After I told him about the site and the leaked data, he shook his head and said they deserve what they get. We're not married but he's a stand up guy that's been cheated on, so he knows the pain it causes. In fact, we were wondering if his ex was on there!

Viagra has zero effect on a males libido. It may give the ability, but there's no difference between the teenage or older man. Of course in a legal setting some might argue that, it's the affect thing not the effect.

I think older men are desperately trying to hold onto their youth.

There are very few older people, men, or women who don't try to hold onto that. I don't like cheaters, but I have pity for the lonely ones out there. I think the spouses have a right to know what's going on, they might be able to fix something that's that broken. All I know is it didn't work for me, you can't fix a cheater.

As SOME women enter menopause, their desire for sex declines. This would be my guess as to why older men would be looking for sex outside of marriage. SOME will be doing so with their wives blessings, others not so much. Mismatched libidos is fairly common. As to the "rightness" or "wrongness" of their solution, it depends on the individual relationships. Some women would welcome not being hounded by their husbands - likewise for husbands who find themselves with the shoe on the other foot. SOME men lose desire (or ability) and might also open up their marital bed (so to speak). And then you must remember that those people who were "hippie love children" are now in their 50's and 60's. Free love baby ;) ;) (j/k)

FWIW It has little to nothing to do with Viagra lol

Exactly. These people are hurting their ownselves with denial of what truly is wrong in their lives. But they are also, hurting a lot of other people that are part of their lives.

Are they lonely if that site is for married people?

I live in a warm climate where people are outside all of the time. I see old men flirt with and try to touch younger women. They really think they are attractive to these women. It is embarrassing to watch

I think it does have something to do with Viagra. Knowing you can go the "full mile" does encourage older men who might otherwise pine for an affair but not pursue one because of performance issues.

They are, but this has been going on since forever. I wish the AM/EM hackers had just taken down the company and left the customers out of it. People were having affairs before this and people will continue to do so after. Maybe not so many people (I don't think so anyway) and a third-party won't be getting rich of someone's infidelity and potentially someone else's pain. More than one someone else, actually.

Spouses are sometimes unfaithful and I try not to judge, but this business disgusts me.

I would think if you're going to cheat on your spouse discretion would be your number one concern and using a website, with your email address, and your credit card number(!), seems like you're just asking to get caught. Maybe desperate? Vulnerable?

The two suicides are heartbreaking. Did the victims leave families? Loved ones? More pain and emptiness.

Are they lonely if that site is for married people?

Probably not all of them, but IMO it's possible to be married and lonely. Sometimes people have affairs for the emotional support as much as the sex, and sometimes people feel stuck in bad marriages.

I'm not suggesting if someone is stuck in a bad marriage or not getting their emotional needs met in their marriage they should seek out affairs.

I said little to nothing - not simply nothing. All of this is conjecture anyway, since we aren't interviewing specific people (horndogs who flirt with young girls according to some).

Lack of sex at home (for whatever reason) or lack of satisfying sex at home (for whatever reason) are more likely to be at play IMOO

Ppp

That is why I wish this was a wake up call. This cyber opportunity has expanded the ability to have affairs. Look at the destruction we have seen.

I am sure there was plenty of destruction before affairs were put out on the internet.

Now the world gets to hear about it and not just because of Ashley Madison.

Jeff Ashton will forever be questionable in people's minds now and his family gets to pay the price as well. I really think people probably already knew about him. But this presented the outing opportunity in a big way.

When I was working, people knew about the affairs of others. It was talked about in amazement.

I was a teacher and one day one of my elementary students told me how he had seen the principal coming out of the home of a teacher in the AM. It was just a matter of interest to him. Not an indictment of what he knew.

The old saying is that the wife is the last to know. Now the turn around was quicker with this expose.

And I said I think it has something to do with Viagra, not everything to do with it. :)

I'm guessing we can agree that it's a complicated issue and personal to each individual and that blanket statements don't cover it all.
