GUILTY Australia - Carly McBride, 31, murdered, Muswellbrook, NSW, 30 Sept 2014 *Trial in 2021*

What a . Battered to death and then used her key card to buy drinks!!! Wonder if the co-accused is related to him....

It was always going to be the boyfriend. Who doubted that from the beginning?

I think the police have had Cunneen in their sights for quite a while. I'm glad both of these pieces of filth are finally in custody!.

A man facing drug and firearm charges, arising from an investigation into the disappearance of Lake Macquarie woman Carly McBride, has been refused bail.

Hunter Valley police searched two properties in the Upper Hunter region of NSW at Scone and one in Musswellbrook on Thursday afternoon.

They recovered three firearms, a silencer and extendable baton from the Musswellbrook address and also seized what was thought to be methamphetamine and more than $5,000 in cash.

Muswellbrook man James Cunneen, 24, was arrested at the property and charged with 13 offences relating to the possession and supply of methamphetamine, possession of firearms and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Investigators said while the charges did not relate to the ongoing investigation into Ms McBride's disappearance, they did arise from the same investigation.

"Strike Force Karabi detectives suspected foul play almost immediately, and as the weeks turned into months their gut instincts got stronger as Carly’s relative’s hopes faded.

But it was not before a mysterious tip-off did they get the big break which led them to this nondescript area outside of Scone where Carly’s skeletal remains were discovered.

The origin of the tip-off, and much of the evidence at the crime scene including how she was found, has remained “under wraps” as the Hunter Valley detectives work towards bringing her killer to justice"

A NEWCASTLE magistrate has recommended the DPP divert more resources into the prosecution of the man accused of murdering mother-of-two Carly McBride.

Sayle Newson, 40, who is accused of killing Ms McBride on September 30, 2014, and dumping her body west of Scone, appeared in Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday via audio visual link from Parklea Correctional Centre.

Mr Newson, who was Ms McBride’s boyfriend for eight weeks at the time of her death, was committed for trial on a charge of arson, with investigators alleging he torched a Mitsubishi triton utility that his co-accused James Cunneen hired in the months after Ms McBride disappeared.

Carly McBride murder: boyfriend Sayle Newson committed to stand trial

Detectives had alleged Mr Cunneen engaged in a joint criminal enterprise with Mr Newson to murder Ms McBride, but now say her former boyfriend is solely responsible for her murder while Mr Cunneen helped dump Ms McBride's body.

Mr Newson, Ms McBride and Mr Cunneen all met at Dooralong Transformation Centre, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre west of Wyong, in September and October, 2013.

Detectives allege that Mr Newson "intercepted" Ms McBride before she got to Muswellbrook McDonald’s and murdered her between 2pm and 5pm, dumping her body in a remote area of bushland near Bunnan Road at Owens Gap, about 17 kilometres north-west of Scone.
