Four-day land and air search fails to find woman missing in remote Pilbara
2019-01-16
Foul play cannot be ruled out in the disappearance of a woman in the West Australian outback, police say, as they continue their search over a vast area of the Pilbara landscape.
A major air and land search has been going for four days, but has so far failed to find any trace of 36-year-old Felicity Shadbolt.
The air component has covered more than 70,000 hectares, and drones are also being used to examine otherwise inaccessible places.
Ms Shadbolt has been missing since leaving her Tom Price home on Sunday for a run in the rough and craggy red rock country near Mt Nameless, a popular exercise spot.
Her car was found at the Mt Nameless walking trail carpark.
Inspector Ray Thompson said police were still hopeful of finding Ms Shadbolt.
"We are very concerned, but our focus is on finding Felicity in a good state. The longer it goes, the harder it is," he said.
