I think that AB overheard Jill turning down the co-worker's offer of an escort home (share taxi?) and Jill could have said something like "no no its ok I live just up the road off Hope street" m.o.o.
Just a note. I have been informed that there is an X rated Adult Sex shop which shows videos just two/three doors north along Sydney Rd from The Brunswick Green. Question is: was the alleged perpetrator in there being stimulated by visual sexual images prior to this attack? Did he overhear Jill declining Mr Wright's offer saying that she knew the area well and lived nearby, then decided to follow her? This would fit with opportunistic in my opinion.

Victoria st is more of a main road and is fairly well lit and has shops running along it and a decent amount of traffic. Theres also a pub about 200 meters down just before Percy st called Victoria Hotel (which may or may not have been open at 1 45 am) However if she took that route, she would have arrived a Percy St where she would have turned right, and t is much like Hope St, ie. completely dead at night, no traffic at all, poorly lit and no shops. just a few panel beaters and small factory type set ups and some empty blocks. And also Percy is actually past Lux Way, so once she reached the end of Percy shed have to walk back 100 metres or so in the direction she came.

That might have made no sense but check Google street view and you will see

I believe Jill went the way she did because its the way she always walked home and it was habit. A part of me believes that AB knew this was her way home. After all he seemingly has his car at the ready just down Hope st. How, I dont know... but as someone said a few posts earlier perhaps he overheard her say something to her co-worker who offered to walk her home that she lived off Hope st..

See what you mean by having to double back a bit from Percy St. The video walk guy also said that there tends not to be a lot of traffic west to east in Hope street because at intersection of Sydney road you can only turn left.

Imagine the charming clientele in that place, just the sort to invite home for afternoon tea with the vicar. Your theory is good.

Is it an Australian law that even after a case is over that details of the murder are not released? Just wondering. Of course we hear everything here in USA. Wondering why that would be kept secret; it is not a slur against a victim whatever was done to him or her by some predator and the predator should not be free of the public knowing exactly what savage acts he or she committed, in my opinion.

In my opinion, the victim's having had to suffer the acts it is a small price to pay for me having to be upset or uncomfortable hearing about them.

I think often it is kept quiet (not secret) because that is the way Australians' are. Look at Steve Irwin's death - we all know it was filmed and it was destroyed so that no one could ever see it. That is just the way we are.

I can't quiet understand that you feeling uncomfortable hearing about them gives anything to to do with anything. It certainly does nothing for Jill. If it is not released (and it can be depending on many factors) then it isn't, end of story.

Saves giving ideas to the next sicko, and family and friends don't need to a hard copy of how she died.MOO

I don't see how the victim loses dignity by the acts of some psychopath(s). Anyone who commits such atrocities deserves to have the whole world know exactly how savage and inhumane he or she is. But I know mine is not a popular opinion.

I respect your opinion but do not share it for reasons I have ready outlined. The other reason I have is that if the heinous nature of the crime become known, I fear that the outrage in the community will be such that it will work against a conviction - either because it will overly prejudice the jury or make it impossible to find a jury pool that hasn't already made up its mind. Neither augur well for justice. And anyway, the detail doesn't change what crimes (abduction, rape and murder) have taken place. The heinous nature of the crimes are an issue for sentencing (and its severity) rather than whether the alleged perp is guilty of a crime or not. Just my opinion, though!

There is indeed such a business there. Although, remember Jill and Mr Wright were saying their goodbyes at the Bar Etiquette, which is on teh other side of the road and up further north a block and a half or so.

don't judge their clientele because of one person who may not have even been in that shop. lots of normal people visit sex shops and could still be invited to afternoon tea with the vicar.

Hypothetically, an experienced sexual predator, stimulated by sexual images seen at the X rated Adult Sex shop, would be more alert in the search for prey - than the average person. Jill's voice may have been loud, attracting attention. The goodbye with Mr Wright may have been witnessed by the predator. He may have seen her cross the road - alone and walk north up Sydney Rd - alone. He then followed her as depicted in the CCTV footage prior to the Duchess shop. My opinion only, not fact.

True, and her Irish accent would have been distinctive.

Fuskier IMO I agree. As a teenager I worked in a video shop near a pub. After pub closing men would come in looking for the raunchiest video. They would pressure for under the counter videos (we had none). It seems that they walk a road of desensitization and seek more extreme stimulation. I think the alcohol made them less bashful about it. Later I was a pizza deliverer and observed what people (men) were watching when I delivered their pizzas. In between deliveries the female deliverer was to wash up in the restaurant while the males looked at *advertiser censored* magazines supplied by the boss. Blah blah blah. Pretty sad.

Possum, that's horrible! :(

Visiting the shop to buy items doesn't worry me so much as going there to watch films (instead of in privacy of own home). Maybe it's just me but to quote Dame Edna 'it's yukky' :)

Some cases like Anita Cobby and an older one in NSW, Virginia Morse, there were details that were so feral they were withheld from general publication to respect the families' sensitivity, it will all be in court during trial but judge may suppress some info from publication. Also maintains whatever shred of dignity the victim may still have.

The same thing happened in the Greenough murders in WA. The details of the murders were so horrific and gruesome that it was ordered sealed from the public.

Unbelievably the sick creep that did this is due for parole next year.

It's yukky. but I also realise there have to be reasons why they are watching there, could be their partner doesn't allow it at home, or theres no privacy because they share, they don't want the risk of their children walking in, don't have the equipment to watch it at home or the money to buy a copy outright.
