Police that he refuses to speak with. - He must know that the public are also looking at their daughter sideways, wondering why she will not help the police. - The daughter may have had a tough time, in his presence, that morning/day ... due to the pressures and public appearance she was forced to make for the funeral. - He needed to try to look upset and caring about Karen and her murder ... even though he was probably just worrying about people's perception of his financial situation - Journos were in attendance with their long-range cameras, ready to snap footage of anyone and everyone. That is a lot of pressure for a person to publicly bear.
