"The former partner of Mrs Amenta's youngest son, John Amenta, told the court she saw a rusty brown barrel standing upright in his ute, a month after she disappeared.

She was with her mother, who remarked: "I hope they haven't got her in there."

The witness, who cannot be named, said she brushed her mother off but admitted a similar thought crossed her mind.

Months later, she saw a television report that Mrs Amenta had been found in a similar barrel, but it was a black colour.

The witness also said the day after Mrs Amenta disappeared, she saw a navy blue and white blouse with white flowers and a navy skirt, in a wash trough in Mrs Amenta's backyard.

She said she showed John but he didn't seem concerned.
A neighbour earlier told the Victorian Coroners Court she saw Mrs Amenta waiting outside her home on the day she disappeared wearing a blue skirt and a blouse with flowers. "

So some reports say Paolo Amenta didnt call his son until 4 hrs aftershe went missing.

"The inquest heard Paolo and Lucia Amenta were due to take lunch to John Amenta.

Paolo bought bread from the local shop before noon and returned home to find his wife gone.

In a phone call almost four hours later, he told son John she was missing."

interesting how the schnitzel could still be warm 4 hrs later

"How does someone just vanish? The chicken schnitzels were still warm when I got there, and now we’re just hoping she comes back,” Mr Amenta said.

He must have still eaten his mums schnitzel lunch on arrival at his parents house!!

I can't but think someone has been caught in a lie. Schnitzels staying warm for 4 hours!!! A little bit too much information given there. What good wife/mother would not refrigerate chicken? All sounds suspicious to me.JMO

Coroner hands down findings on Lucia Amenta’s murder, suppresses key details
A STATE coroner has today handed down his finding into the death of body in a barrel grandma Lucia Amenta, but has barred almost half of it from being published.

Six pages of Judge Ian Gray’s 14 page finding, handed down in his chambers today, have been completely suppressed after he found it could potentially prejudice the fair trial of an accused person in respect of the death.

No one has been charged over Mrs Amenta’s 2008 murder despite police last year offering a $100,000 reward for information saying they were “very close” to making an arrest.

Another case where they just dont have enough to pin down the person/persons responsible.

Another version
Police investigated Mrs Amenta's husband, Paolo, and their son, John, but no charges were laid.
Both men appeared as witnesses at the inquest, but Judge Gray found their evidence was "vague, unpersuasive and, to a degree, self-serving".
In his findings, released by the Coroners Court on Thursday, Judge Gray issued a non-publication order on evidence from the inquest that he considered "potentially prejudicial" in a possible criminal trial. Large sections of the findings were blacked out by court staff.
But Judge Gray stopped short of referring the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions and instead said the investigation would remain an open homicide.
