Another date added on NSW Court site, for tomorrow 31/5/23. They must just be adding the days as they need them.

Chris Dawson does not deny student relationship but denies timing, court told

Georgina Mitchell

May 30, 2023 — 12.55pm

"Dawson’s barrister, public defender Claire Wasley, said it is not in dispute that her client had a sexual relationship with the girl while he was a teacher and she was a student aged under 18.
“It is in dispute that the first instance of [alleged sexual activity] occurred while the complainant was a student in the accused’s sports coaching class in 1980,” she said.

Wasley said if these key facts could not be established – that the alleged activity occurred between the key dates of July 1 and December 12, 1980 – her client should be found not guilty.

The trial continues."

"The central issue will be one of timing and when events commenced," Ms Blizard said.
Dawson first noticed the girl in 1979 and then "made his own arrangements for her to be in his class the following year," she said.

AB later started babysitting Dawson's children and the pair kissed in his car, a few days or weeks before alleged sexual activity took place when he drove her to his parents' home in Sydney's south at Maroubra, Ms Blizard said.

AB is due to give evidence as the trial continues on Tuesday.

The timing has to be while she was at school and before school holidays commenced otherwise due to legal precedent some other teacher got off for a similar offence because it was school holidays

He began attending the licensed premises where AB and other students drank underage on Friday nights, allegedly telling her stories about "how fabulous he was" as "part of the grooming process".
"It just got out of control in terms of the amount of time I was spending with him," she told the court.
She was also brought along to exercise classes Dawson taught with his twin brother.
"When one twin was running the class the other was out the back with whichever student was their property at the time," AB said

Wasley reminded Judge Sarah Huggett she is not required to judge Dawson by contemporary legal or moral standards, and what she knows about his conviction for murder should have no bearing on the trial.

But shouldn't it?? really?? come on now.
slippery slop ain't it.

CD killed his wife because of his sick obsession with this girl.

Of course it's highly relevant.:mad::mad:

Quite apart from anything else, CD is a silly silly man. He is now 74, but looks older IMO, and has lost everything. His youth, health, looks, reputation, freedom, and most of all the loving family he should have around him in his final decade or so. (although I don't know what the state of play is with his current wife.) And all to satisfy his vanity and youthful animal lusts. You poor silly old man.

It is relevant, in spades .. Judge Hugget ( a lady judge, I hoped it would be , as this multiplies Dawson's irritation, ) may not be required to judge Dawson on social behaviours today , as opposed to 1970's , but Judge Dawson is required to judge him on the evidence provided TODAY, and not what Dawson was telling everyone back in the day. This little dig at the judge is but one aspect of the sort of stuff that judges put up with.

I don't think Judge Huggett is a contemporary of Dawson, and as such, she would be in no position to evaluate what the ambience around sexual abuse of students by teachers was back then. She is required merely to judge by the evidence given by the plaintiff, and , eventually, whatever Dawson says about it all, assuming he takes the stand to give testimony. He is not endowed with much courage, so I don't expect him to defend his claim. Putting himself up for cross examination would be surprising, to me. I tag him for a bloke who's quite gutless, all things considered.

It's a bit of problem the light pornagraphic pictures of AB. IMO.
CD had nothing to do with the creation of the topless pics that he witnessed and obviously liked what he seen.

Lynn Dawson also found her parading around her swimming pool topless.

Just makes me feel a bit icky about her and her own role she played in this mess.

She was in a hurry to grow up.

Doesn't pass CD at all for pursuing her.
Just don't buy that she wasn't chasing him too.

At the end of the day though even if she was flirting with him he was the adult in a professional accountable element.

Don't come for me. Im not blaming AB...but we can't cherry pick the good and bad parts of the story of how they got to where they did.

Hoping they can nail his back to the wall...and hopeful more to come. Twin 1 looking at you.
