Deceased/Not Found Australia - Lynette Dawson, 34, Sydney, Jan 1982 *husband guilty* #5

K-Mac
“Hoping they can nail his back to the wall...and hopeful more to come. Twin 1 looking at you.”

Not sure why Teflon Twin has seemingly walked away with everything so far.
My impression since day one is Twin 1 was the dominant twin - whether it be university studies, teaching, playing football, their respective homes etc - and Twin 2 always seemed to be playing catchup.

Twin 1 has always come across as smarter and more calculating and I think he was cunning enough to ensure the young girls he liaised with were legal age (just!). Whereas Twin 2 seems to have let his little brain dominate his decision making and that's why he is in jail and also why he is in court at the present time.

I think there was probably more than one person responsible for the disposal of Lynne's body. I got the impression the police did too - and you don't need to be Einstein to guess the most likely accomplice.

But it may have been a gamble in prosecuting the case to try and nail anyone else. They probably did well enough to get the guilty verdict against Chris as it was and including others may have jeopardizing their chances of that.

A new, female witness in Dawson's carnal knowledge trial has backed up his complainant's version of events, claiming she saw the teacher and his student being intimate in his office at school.

"She would spend every recess and lunchtime in Dawson's office."

Things already looking bad for Twin 2.

I cannot dismiss the fact that Twin 2, ( or twin 1 if we go by the dominant factor) has not been charged. At least , not publicly, and one cannot be privately charged. ..Maybe a civil action may take place re those circumstances...

He also gave her one dated Christmas 1980 in which he said “once or twice every minute” and signed off as “God”, the court was told.

AB said that was Dawson’s way of disguising himself given she was underage.

“He was trying to disguise who he was … He didn’t call himself a god, but we must have agreed that this is what he would refer to himself as because I was 16 and he knew it,” AB said.

AB was 16 years old in December 1980 and didn’t turn 17 for another two months.

It seems in this case, the carnal knowledge victim, is now being called AB.

Dawson's defence trying to lead AB (the victim) and AB not afraid to put the defence in their place with her response : 'Well, that's garbage!"

Things have got a bit much for AB. The constant suggestion she is making things up. This was the last of her questioning.

"I suggest driving lessons could not have commenced until after you had your learner's permit," Ms Wasley put to her.

"I never suggested we went for driving lessons before then," AB replied.

In earlier evidence, AB said she had obtained her learner's licence when she was 16 years and nine months old.

But later in the cross-examination, she said she wasn't certain.

"It's quite possible that I was getting driving lessons with [Dawson] before I got my licence," she said.

"I suggest that's something you've just made up in the witness box now," Ms Wasley replied.
The comment prompted an emotional outburst from the usually composed complainant.

"No, I don't make these things up," she said in tears.

"These things happened to me, and I'm so sick of this, trying to justify everything I say.

"I know this is your job, but this is my life."

When asked if she needed a break, she shook her head.

"No, I just want it to end, that's all I want."

AB's testimony has now concluded.

Her sister is due to give evidence at the trial when proceedings resume next week."

In the audio of The Front this morning (starting at about the 2:20min mark) they speak of this trial.

Hedley Thomas says that he "absolutely believes" AB. That AB is saying that Dawson destroyed her life, and destroyed the life of his wife who had two small children, and that he is going to be held accountable for all of that.

One of the witnesses to appear this week will speak of Dawson's brother, at that same time, and the fact that she (the witness) was younger than AB.

Perhaps Paul will get his day in court at some time in future then? We can only hope.

I bet Marilyn is proud to hear again how loyal her husband was. Just as well she 'fought for him.'

I think the difference is that in theory Chris Dawson should have been charged around 2001 or before when she first spoke to police about this in 1990ish.

2001 being the first inquest. I think it was about 1990 that AB left and went to Sydney. Police first started investigating Chris Dawson for murder of Lynette Simms in 1991.

If he was charged at that point in time there probably weren't any witnesses to back up AB's version of events. There are witnesses available now.

It would depend on whether police consider there is enough supporting evidence for a trial with the younger witness.

The West has a bit of info about CD who was the witness. Saying the two of them were close together. AB was not sure of timing so this could be an issue. A few quotes.

"Chris Dawson would sneak out to the beach with one of his teenage high school students and the pair were seen kissing and cuddling in a swimming pool, a judge has been told."

"On Monday, AB's friend gave evidence in court recounting times when the teacher and his twin brother Paul Dawson would spend time with the two girls.
...
The friend, known for legal reasons as CD, said that in years 9 and 10, she went to fitness classes in the Sydney suburb of Lindfield with AB, Chris and Paul.

The four of them would be in the swimming pool "kissing and cuddling" after the classes, CD said.

"What were you able to observe of Christopher Dawson and (AB) in the pool? What do you recall?"

"They were together, bodies together," CD said."
...
"She admitted that she was unsure of the exact times that this "socialising" occurred.

"I know it happened. I know we were being groomed. I don't know the exact dates," she told Judge Sarah Huggett."

It's like a fist, no bigger than a mans hand on the horizon, the spectre of Dawson 1 making an appearance in this long running , long hidden crime. And there is a third brother, also, who's actions may be of some concern to the Bar. Particularly in the matter of Chris Dawson's 'divorce' from Lynette, where all her property, her possessions, her fathers money was neatly rounded off to Dawson, as Lynn was considered to be avoiding the court.
