Homicide and organised crime squad investigate woman's disappearance on Gold Coast

February 11, 2013

THE husband of missing Gold Coast mum Novy Chardon went overseas with their children two days after she disappeared, police say.
They say John Chardon's trip to Indonesia was a pre-planned business trip originally to be made without his children, aged 7 and 9.

Police say they have made contact with Mr Chardon in Indonesia and expect him back "hopefully soon" to answer questions.

A major crime scene has been established at the Chardon's Upper Coomera home and detectives from the Homicide and Major and Organised Crime squads are involved in the investigation.

Well, her car didn't go far. From the residence in Upper Coomera to where the car was found at Bowden Court, Nerang, is only a 12 minute drive according to Google.

Husband certainly got his lawyers involved quickly. Would need to watch his professional reputation, I would think. He has a fair bit of online presence due to his lubricant business.

This one is just a matter of time IMO.

She is last seen, by the husband, on Wednesday evening. He has a business trip already planned for Friday. So when his wife doesn't come home by Thursday, he does the logical thing, and books plane tickets for his children to accompany him to Indonesia. He doesn't attempt to find her, doesn't call police. Just leaves the country with both children. Righto.

I am watching the news. A neighbour said that he or his girlfriend(will clarify with link asap) heard a 'muffled gunshot'.

Her car was found near Nerang train station. You would think if she was leaving by train she would park AT the station. Someone else, however, would have been careful not to be seen on surveillance video. IMO

Yes, all too convenient if you ask me. Divorce or no divorce, he doesn’t sound too concerned for her welfare, she is the mother of his children after all. Those poor kids.

I wonder how long it will take for him to return to Australia. The children may have maternal family in Indonesia to care for them. And he has what looks like an Aussie family member running his business with him here. He may be able to stay away and avoid police questioning for quite a while.

I definitely get the feeling he won't return to Australia anytime soon.

Sadly, some younger foreign-born women marry older Aussie men and have less–than-ideal relationships once the woman adopts the free-thinking independent ways of Aussie women. There are too many cases where an angry, alcohol-fuelled person pitched against an equally-angry, young feisty attitude leads to DV and police intervention.
