Marcus Stanford allegedly received the items about April 8.

He allegedly continued to assist his brother until at least April 31, according to the court charge sheet.

It is believed Marcus Stanford and his two house mates, backpackers working on farms, were taken to a South Australian police station to be questioned after his twin’s arrest on April 8.

Express post?

There's no Express Post option between the areas with Australia Post. All packages are sent by road. Unless he used a Courier but I find that hard to believe.

The earliest he could have posted anything would have been the tues 7th ( as monday was a public holiday)

And as Annap has said no express post ( you can use express post but won't arrive overnight ) .

If he did use a courier ( I doubt it ) there would be a trail!

At Amee's above link: so depressing to see this paragraph
Marcus, a labourer on a flower farm, was arrested at his home in Forreston, in the Adelaide Hills, in a dramatic early morning raid on Wednesday.

Probably illogical... but what if the twins truly are estranged and VS did this as an act of revenge?

What if VS posted them to MS, knowing MS would dispose of them/not tell anyone to keep his name clear but then VS decided to dob MS in by saying that he had posted him items of hers? LE may have investigated it and found that MS did dispose of the items and his story of "I didn't know anything about this" would be seen as unlikely by LE....

Nothing seems strange in this case.

If they were estranged enough that one would want to frame the other as an accessory to murder, then why would the other one not just hand the evidence over to police? It would require that V hated M so much that he wanted to see him imprisoned but also knew that M cared enough for him that he'd destroy evidence of murder to protect him.

Clothing burns pretty easily. If V was only trying to destroy evidence, surely he'd have just lit it up when he burned Stephanie's body? To me, this is sharing a trophy. Clothing is personal and intimate. I feel like V was sharing the experience with his brother, and that raises questions about where they'd previously fantasized together about doing this sort of thing, or if they had already previously gone beyond the fantasy stage.

I agree Walk A Mile, I hope this is the first and last. When pondering Marcus working with transients/backpackers I felt sick.

 thanks Anna.

I think Id go to Griffith and post the stuff if it was me. :dunno:

This is disgusting. Oh, I have a bad feeling about this. Why did he post her clothes to his brother? It seems like an unnecessary step.

I'm very concerned about the statement from police that they will need at least three months for all the evidence:

"A three-month adjournment has been granted to allow analysis of a large amount of forensic material."

Her poor family will have to hear about all this depravity in trial because the mongrel won't speak :(

And this also makes one wonder about how the mother was able to provide so much assistance to police. Is there something from the past that is yet to be reported?

Hi Angeline - Is it certain that it was clothing that was posted? I've only been able to find a reference to "personal affects". It' especially disturbing if it's Stephanie's clothing.

I'd been thinking that it could have been valuable items, like her engagement ring. Pawning such items could have been his downfall.

Yes, I agree. Posting of clothing items goes way beyond disposal of evidence - especially as poor SS was burnt and clothing items could have easily been destroyed beyond recognition in the bonfire. When I initially heard the news story about SS's possessions I thought it must have been jewelry or other things that would remain after a fire. Now that the police have confirmed it's clothing we are left to think the worst...trophies. It is so very, very sinister.

I know that quite a few WSers were looking at the twins online presence in gaming forums etc and I think someone upthread (or the thread before) turned up a macabre game scenario that one of the twins had posted and IIRC the mention of a trophy or medallion?!?

Teacher's clothes 'posted to brother'
Found dead: Stephanie Scott.
Twin brother of accused killer allegedly received a number of items in the post connected to Stephanie Scott's death.
[This headline in printed in The Age Newspaper, June 11, 2015 at 10.37am]. So we can speculate Marcus Stanford disposed of SS's clothing.
Agree Eucalyptuz, this is looking more like 'depraved collusion'.

I wonder if theres any backpackers that have gone missing near where Marcus lives? Pretty easy for a backpacker to go 'missing' if you know what i mean...

We could not find the page you requested. This is often because older content has been removed from our site.
In most cases you can still find the item via our service News Store, where you can search for articles in our archive.

It's still there. The same headline appears on the front page.

They must have updated the story and changed the headline. I saw that headline earlier. It WAS there but doesn't come up anymore even if you search their site specifically.

Yes the clothing was definitely mentioned in an earlier version of the story. In fact, it is still right there on The Age's front page but the link takes you to a story WITHOUT that detail. Interesting. Maybe some journos were jumping the gun...
