I've changed my mind completely on this. I think that any links are just coincidence and probably brought about by lifestyle choices not anything meaningful or sinister.

I think that this began as a crime of opportunity.

Yep.

Hate to say this, but I reckon LE may have lost focus on what this is really about -> William Tyrrell.

I feel they have nothing connecting WS directly to William Tyrrell, and are taking what they can get on Bill, so as not to look so 'empty-handed'.

Praying, as always, that lil William is found, soon, and safe!

You don't believe that the police can work two cases at once??

If they come across a crime whilst investigating another, do you think they should just forget about that crime and only focus on the original crime. Oh My.

They have stated that Speddings Current Charges don't have anything to do with Williams disappearance. That IMO does not negate the fact that he could be involved, it's the charges that are not related NOT Spedding.

IMO there is no way that the police have lost focus.

I too think police are focusing on BS to the detriment of William. I also cannot understand why the previous abuse allegations did not proceed to court action if there was so much physical evidence.

I never mentioned LE's multitasking skills.
Only that they don't appear to have anything solid, connecting BS, to William - HENCE - Going on 8 months.

You don't know what they have? They must have something to be able to dig up his yard and continue their investigation.

You also don't know if they are solely focused on Spedding, it is the Public that are focused on Spedding because his is the only name released.

This thread is about William and what has happened to him.

What it's not about is personalizing posts.

Stay on topic please.

Thanks

BBM - This is just one of their tricks. When my kids were little, we were told not to let them wear clothing with their name on it, lest a perp would call the child by name and the kid think they it was someone familiar. So, I worry about the Spiderman pj's. Poor William could have lured away by references to his hero.

Agree with you 'loveamystery'! BS had previously been to the house re: the washing machine. What if, as he walked through the house, he noticed a photograph of William dressed as Spiderman. He is then told the family are due Friday. He alerts "ring members" to be on standby Friday morning with a Spiderman Mask.

OT (I don't know how to start a new missing persons thread, sorry) - Another woman missing, this time in Fortitude Valley, Queensland. No shoes, phone or wallet and last seen out the front of a nightclub at 2am Sunday morning (May 3rd).

Hopefully LE post about this today, I think they may have been waiting to see if she turned up for work this morning but she unfortunately didn't.

Hope all is well :\ She is friends with a lot of people I know so we share many mutual friends on FB.

ETA: According to her friends she was NOT drinking that night. So this doesn't appear to be a drunken disappearance.

I kind of understand why Rodney Spedding would speak out in defence of his father. I mean, growing up, most kids look up to their dad and can't think of them being anything less than perfect. It would be a horrific thing to have your dad accused of such terrible actions - unfortunately, I think he is defending a monster! Its not just the victims that are affected by these monsters, but other people as well, the innocent family members that are dragged along too....

I too am on the fence with this case, either it is incredibly straight forward what has happened and police are waiting on solid evidence or LE are barking up the wrong tree. Here is my list of questions and specultaion on things that bother me about the case.

1. Did anyone outside of the family actually see WT in Kendall? Or is there CCTV footage of him at service stations, McDonald's on the drive up.
2. Did the GM give an accurate list to police of all the people she told that her family were coming to visit? Did she edit herself around people she believes she can trust?
3. Did the communication between BS and GM's house happen on a landline or by mobile. Apparently reception is so bad that the FF had to do his skype meeting a couple of kilometers away? If by a mobile on the GM's end could this lead to a discrepency in the phonecalls between GM and BS that day?
4. If the police had any evidence against BS he would be arrested as a suspect. If his alibi didn't stack up at all, if he was witnessed in the vicinity, if they could prove motivation, if they had any physical evidence? I think they are relying on the historical allegations to show the motivation but as yet those allegations are not proven.
5. In the interview with the parents the FF states WT was last seen at 10.15. Could be a mistake or it could be that the FM did not want to give the impression that WT was actually out of sight longer than what she has reported. 5- 10 minutes can make a huge difference. I found it strange that in one sentence she states that they felt that this was a safe place and her brother's children had grown up running around the area and then her first thought when WT could not be found was that he was abducted without stating why e.g because they had just heard a vehicle pass the house or something of that nature... and even asking the FF as he pulled up after his skype meeting," is WT with you?"
6. Understandably, BS is a POI and there are historical allegations he must answer for and from the information we have of those allegations point to a strong suspicion of him in WT's disappearance. I don't understand the reason for him not being granted bail, " because he has not shown any reason why he should be?"
7. Why is he using legal aid when he looks like he has assets to sell for better legal representation?
8. Why when earlier on in the piece he decided not to talk to the media did his friend and counsin's husband confide so much information to them?

And on and on... there are heaps more questions I have but can't quite form those questions yet, they are just a mass of swirl in my head under the label, Just Doesn't Add Up.

It has been proven that the photos taken were taken where and when the mother said, so no doubt he was there at the time.
Legal aid--- he doesn't own the house he lives in and now has no income.

If my Dad were accused of such crimes and in my 40+ years of my experience with him I had not seen anything untoward, I would be backing him to the hilt as well. I thought Rodney Speddings quote about "as the facts come to light" more would be understood was interesting.

Hi Frogwell. You've raised some interesting questions.

Just to clarify your query as to why BS was not granted bail: I believe the laws were recently changed regarding those specific charges to deny bail as a matter of course.

I agree with your 2/ question. Perhaps it was inaccurate reporting by MSM when they stated no one knew the family was coming to stay: I also query who exactly GM told about the impending visit.

I'm not a Grandma - yet :) but I do have adult children and when I'm expecting them to visit, I'm very excited and full of anticipation. My shopping pattern is different and I would probably mention it to my local shopkeeper. I live in a small community and you do tend to interact more with local shopkeepers, bakers and butchers than you do in the anonymity of large towns and suburbs.

I believe the only 'surprise' aspect of the visit was the unexpected Thursday arrival, but as GM told BS she needed the washing machine fixed because she was expecting the family, she was referring to the Friday.

GM didn't make a secret of it to BS so I'm thinking she would have also told people at the local shops, her girlfriends and others with whom she socialised. I understand GM is an active member of the local community.

I believe BS is involved on some level. He certainly has a case to answer on the other charges. The police know what they are doing.

Yes I understand about the photograph however I am asking if anyone else actually witnessed him from the time he left Sydney to the time he disappeared? He may also be renting but he owns a business and could borrow against that. Maybe legal aid until some financial arrangements can be made.

I don't think the business is that flush with funds.

I also don't think anyone would have necessarily seen WT actually in Kendall as the family arrived on the Thursday evening.

Having said that, I have often wondered if he was seen at McDonalds and if it was picked up by CCTV. When I travelled with my two children when they were young, we would need to stop a few times on a 4+ hour drive.

One of the problems I have with this being planned is that no-one knew that the family would be in Kendall before Friday lunchtime (at least). Even if grandma did tell people that her family were coming, surely she would not have expected them prior to lunchtime – with the length of the journey they had to make.

Yet, William went missing at 10:30am …. well prior to Friday lunchtime. That spells opportunistic to me.

It also says to me that if grandma wanted her washing machine part fitted, Friday morning prior to the family's expected afternoon arrival would have been a perfect time - seeing that the part arrived on Thursday and may have been known to be arriving on/by Thursday - either at the time of placing the order for the part, or because that is just the length of time it takes for parts to arrive.

I agree SA I am leaning toward unplanned.

Though, since the parents interview and them saying he works remotely and had to seek out internet connection to partake in the skype meeting it made me wonder if they had intended to be at grandmas early in the morning. That is assuming it was a planned meeting and not spontaneous.

If the meeting was planned then you would expect to have arrived at your destination or intended to pull over somewhere at the required time?
