Australia Australia - William Tyrrell Disappeared While Playing in Yard - Kendall (NSW) #77

I don't think there is one person on this thread who does not think it was abusive, is there?

Why do people think that some of us are appalled that the police let it go on?
How did the police handle the original investigation?

Some big mistakes were made initially. The local crew treated it strictly as a lost child.

The FGM's house was not cordoned off. Neighbours and searchers were allowed to drive in and out of the street unchecked. When a tracking dog arrived several hours later the area had already been highly contaminated. Dogs who were trying to track through the bush were becoming overwhelmed with ticks which affected their performance.

The FP vehicles, phones, computers were seized for forensic investigation.
They searched all homes in the development three times.

Within a week the sex crimes squad had been called in. Then the case went into the hands of the homicide squad.

wow. Thank you.

I won't excuse police for doing that, although, if I had to come up with a possible reason why they didn't act quickly, it would be because maybe they thought that -- while in distress about her treatment -- the kid (who I am assuming was William's sister) might blurt out on the audio recordings something damning about William's disappearance.

Again, just a theory.

Yes, Lonergan admitted as much.

Our main objective is to find out where William Tyrrell is," Lonergan replied. Link

I definitely get a sense that you are appalled by the events.

I think some are minimising or excusing the behaviour if I’m being honest.

It’s worth considering there is a chance that William may have endured similar circumstances.
Which is undetermined, but definitely possible judging by the evidence dating back to solitary exclusionary time out of a two year old in the care of his foster parents.

I will try not to be offended by the minimising comment. Some of us are more pragmatic.

There seems to be no evidence that William was mistreated. In fact, there seems to be no evidence of anything at all. Which is why William's disappearance is unsolved.

I think the handiest way to solve this is to throw up a few of the most relevant links if you have the time so everyone is on the same page.

I assume there are other suspects but I don't know if they were ever covered by MSM?

New people will be joining up and it would save everyone a headache, bring fresh eyes and we can all work together?

Readers Digest version .....

The first lead detective (Hans Rupp) zeroed in on a local washing machine repairman who was in the process of receiving parts to fix the FGM's washing machine. This person has since sued the State of NSW and won, with the State contesting the payout. Hans Rupp had cleared both of the families (he was the one who ordered the forensic investigations of the FP property). Link

The second lead detective (Gary Jubelin) was investigating a neighbour. He was pulled off the case and resigned, after making 4 recordings on his phone of conversations with the POI outside the warrant dates. He also had cleared both of the families. Link

The third lead detective (David Laidlaw) dug up an entire area at a riding school (where FM turned her car around to go back when searching for William) and found nothing. Simultaneously bringing the FP before the secretive NSW Crime Commission to answer questions, and having bugged their home for at least 9/10 months. Link

In between there have been numerous local sex offenders investigated. (Too many links to find.) The area has an unusually high amount of sex offenders living in it - likely due to the proximity to a prison and parole requirements upon release.

As well, there has been a Coronial inquest happening - one which is about to resume if no charges in relation to William are laid.

Thank you so much.
Wowsers!

I don’t think FM and FF are off the hook yet.

The latest investigators have ruled everyone else out and repeatedly said FM is the “sole” person of interest in Williams disappearance.

They are privy to a lot more information than the general public is so at this stage I’m backing what they know higher than what we know.

JMO - At the beginning of the alleged assault and intimidation Hearing, the FM pleaded guilty to the assault charges, but the FF has pleaded not guilty.
As the Hearing progressed day by day, it was really shocking to learn from the surveillance tapes how both the FM and the FF abused the young 11 year old girl (And yes, we were able to learn how much abuse she had to endure until both she and the other younger foster child were finally removed from the foster carers ... to save them from that continuing abuse which could quite possibly have escalated to increasing levels of physical assaults).

Magistrate McIntyre concluded as per this link:

Tyrrell foster mum’s ‘putrid’ barb: court BBM
“Other counts related to threats to “throw” and “slap” the child, and also threatened to have the child removed from the home, the court heard.

Magistrate Susan McIntyre said there was a “prima facie case” to answer on all the charges and it could be argued that all of the woman’s statements caused the child to fear mental or physical harm.

The matter will now return to court in December for closing submissions before Ms McIntyre hands down her judgment at a later date.”

its interesting looking back at old artucles, i wonder if william and his sister were handpicked for adoption?
No they weren’t. I don’t even know what you mean? Handpicked by who? All the details surrounding them going into care came out in the court documents years ago

I am definitely not trying to be offensive. But I do understand some people might be offended by my opinion.
I think your knowledge of this case is beyond most in the group and I respect how much time and effort you’ve put into trying to uncover the truth.

I would hate to be this minor child, and read on public forums all the unnecessary stuff that has been said about her, as she grows older.
For the rest of her life............
Yes ... she has had to endure enough during her young life already ... sincerely wishing for her to find the happiness she so deserves. MOO
