Australia Australia - William Tyrrell Disappeared While Playing in Yard - Kendall (NSW) #79

Thank you for this. Can I clarify, PB said he stopped in Kew for about half an hour, went to Kendall where he also stopped for half an hour? Trying to make sense of this, I am assuming he went to Kew, phoned Michelle, who gave him directions to the Kendall shops and said she'd meet him there. They met in Kendall and she led him to Cobb & Co Rd. Perhaps she didn't get there immediately and that's why he had to wait the second time.

He's certainly on the spot at the relevant time, I think you have to ask him about what he saw and how sure he is that he saw it. The short blonde woman in Kew and Kendall is of no interest as far as I'm concerned; she is not behaving strangely to visit those two sets of shops; she might well think he was behaving strangely hanging about at each for no visible reason, and fussily edging his truck away from her.

It's understandable that his memory of the cars in Kendall is hazy. He's got a large vehicle to navigate through a strange place while watching a car ahead. He's probably right about the Western Star truck and the black Camry, but sadly not very reliable about the cars that were or weren't in Batar Creek Rd.
Peter arrived in Kew, Michelle his contact was busy somewhere else & he had to wait for instructions from her. In Kew he said parked where interstate buses used to pull up ( really was no good spot to park his truck ) He was in phone contact with Michelle, moved on to Kendall after she said she would meet him there.

He was certain about the make of cars on Batar Creek Rd & the direction they were going & the order they were in. Michelle had a Nissan Navara Ute 2007/2008.

He was asked if he saw any cars parked on side of the road ( BCR ) & he said " no, but maybe near the residential area. Not along where my truck was parked."

Edit to add, he seemed to think the woman he saw was more important than what he saw or did not see on BCR IMO

'Residential area', meaning the residential part of Batar Creek Rd? 'Where my truck was parked'--does he mean at Michelle's place? Did he park in Batar Creek Road or up Cobb & Co?

I think he meant he may have seen cars parked in Kendall it's self ( ie up around Laurel / Albert/ Combyne st etc ) is how I took it.

He parked on BCR than went with Michelle to look at the access for his truck on the Cob & Co Rd property. I don't know what part of BCR he parked on

I don't have the impression that the truck driver waited on Batar Creek Road. Because Batar Creek Road isn't anywhere near the Op Shop.

The Op Shop is at 1A Comboyne Street, near the train tracks. Across the road from the old tennis club CCTV. It sounds as if it might have been in that location since not too long after 2004, and likely before 2014. imo

Originally the shop opened in the old bank building and then in the former Anglican church to raise money to help build the Kendall Swimming pool. What an amazing achievement when the pool opened in 2004.

With the pool built, the Op Shop was able to direct its funds for a purpose-built shop.

[The former Anglican Church is also on Comboyne Street, according to Kendall's Heritage Walk] Link

The 64-year-old said he again saw the vehicle park in front of his Kenworth prime mover as he was waiting in front of the op shop in Kendall about 20 minutes later.

He stopped 3 times

1. Kew
2. Kendall outside the Op shop ( he said his cabin was level with the shop )
3. When he parked on BCR & went with Michelle in her Ute to check the access for his truck at the Cob & Co Rd property

The RDA school was at the junction of Cobb & Co Road and BCR in 2014. It didn't move to the showgrounds until 2017.

DB’s version of the truck driver and the time frame for BCR is as follows …

And he was there at the time, because when he gives evidence in court today, he says he was driving along that road at about just after 10 past 10 on that morning, and was driving back around sort of 10 to 11.

And that's just before William's foster mother calls the police. So just after she's driven down the road, on her evidence, so she's looking for William and on the police, or their version of events said she's disposing of William's body.”

We've got a truck driver who was definitely there, because there's CCTV and his evidence, and the evidence, I'm assuming, of the person he was picking his load up from. So he was there. The significance is what he's not said.”

The truck driver also mentions a Black Ute …. Toyota Camry have never made a Ute …

The truck driver also said he saw a car acting suspiciously. There was a black Ute driven by a blonde woman. But while he said it was acting suspiciously, he didn't really seem to have a lot of grounds for that suspicion.”

DB’s version … of where he parked up ….

because I was in a car park, there's a nursery there or something, when you come over the bridge, and then you go over the railway line, and there's a few little shops there. And I was parked up on the left-hand side in the opening there, where other cars were parked on a 90 degree.”

I was just thinking that if he'd parked in Batar Creek Road near Cobb & Co, he could hardly have been travelling very fast when FFC saw him, so that's an extra reason to think it wasn't him. But DrSleuth says he only briefly parked on BCR. This is after he left the Kendall shops.

I was struck that he didn't seem to know whether he the cars he saw in Batar Creek Rd were coming away from Benaroon Drive or going towards it. He said they didn't come out of Benaroon Drive, I suppose he meant that he didn't see them turn out of anywhere . . . but there was an obvious invitation to assess whether they could have come out of Benaroon Drive based on where he saw them and the direction they were travelling. If he saw them travelling towards him just after he left Cobb & Co, surely they could have come from Benaroon.

The cars were coming towards him. The BMW first , followed by the Ute

He couldn't explain when the Corner asked him why he thought they didn't come out of Benaroon Drive, he just said because they were on BCR .

He also had no clue of the names of streets & just called them all roads which made it a bit confusing.

Eg he was shown a photo which obviously had part of Benaroon street sign in it & thought it was something like "naroon" st

Yeah, I don't think he is the truck driver who encountered the FM.

Another person has probably given a police statement which spurred the Big Dig. They saw the FM on BCR, FM said she was on BCR, so the Coroner wanted to ensure that William wasn't there (due to the police theory).

We certainly don't see or hear everyone's police statements.

imo

Do we know how long the foster parents stayed in Kendall following the disappearance before returning to their home?

Michelle White said she was there with them for 9 days.

Yes … they were told by NSWPOL to return home to Sydney and were given an undercover Police Escort out of town by Wendy Hudson to ensure they weren’t followed ..

I think the purpose of his testimony might have been to demonstrate some of the vehicles that passed through that area, when William disappeared.

Craddock said he is only dealing in facts. And it is a fact that vehicles passed through that area when William vanished. Almost like a traffic study.

Also, now the coroner can put to bed the rumour about a blonde woman behaving suspiciously by the side of the road. The road was not near Benaroon Drive and she was not behaving in a way that suggested connection to William's disappearance.
