Would love to see everyone try to help figure this one out. I'm definitely an amateur and don't even begin to know where to look for evidence so any help or ideas I would appreciate. This one caught my eye as very suspicious and I want this to be the 1st case I look into.any help would be greatly appreciated. <modsnip - not an approved source

Please don't go into the desert alone, or during the summer heat. It is very dangerous if you're not extremely familiar with the area.

Buckeye police received a tip from a person who claimed he had a brief encounter with Robinson in the Hassayampa River bottom the day he went missing. However, detectives say Robinson’s SUV system and his electronic devices show that wasn’t the case. Buckeye police added detectives provided a second FBI briefing on the case, this time for the incoming special agent in charge at the FBI Phoenix Field Office.

Multiple searches of the area where Robinson vanished have come up empty. On Jan. 7, a skull and bones were found in the desert, but Robinson’s father said it wasn’t his son. In Nov. 2021, a skull was found as a search party was looking for the missing geologist, but DNA results showed it wasn’t him.

On Jan. 27, officers received a tip that there were human remains inside a well half a mile north where Robinson was last seen, but no remains were actually at the well. On Feb. 18, Buckeye police and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies did another search with dozens of personnel and K-9 teams but found nothing.

Despite the setbacks, the Buckeye Police Department insists the case is still active and continues to investigate every tip and lead in the case. Anyone with information about Robinson’s disappearance is asked to call the police tip line at (623) 349-6411.

It's been two years since Phoenix-area geologist Daniel Robinson went missing and authorities released an update Wednesday on the work that’s been done in the investigation into his disappearance.

Now, Buckeye police have announced detectives uncovered location data in the missing man's cell phone that places the device at the crash site on the morning he disappeared. Daniel Robinson's other electronic devices underwent forensic analysis but did not reveal information that could help locate him, though detectives will further analyze their raw data, the department said.

Additionally, police said they have provided a case briefing – its second such briefing – for the incoming special agent in charge at the FBI Phoenix field office.

Finally, police said they investigated a sighting on Robinson. A person reported briefly encountering the geologist in the Hassayampa River bottom on the day he went missing, according to police. Digital evidence from Robinson's vehicle systems and electronic devices do not match the information given in the reported sighting, police noted.

Do we know more about this unsubstantiated encounter? Sketchy? Look there not here? Why did that person describe a sighting he/she didn't see? I want to know more about this.

David Robinson, Daniel's father, has been heavily involved in the search for his son by holding regular search parties and combing the desert for evidence.
* God bless David Robinson. I doubt he sleeps well.
He’ll never give up. He can’t. He won’t. Ever. ❤️

LE should investigate it, but there’s a strong chance that it was just a sighting of—someone else. Reports of seeing someone, when the person reporting doesn’t know the missing person, have an extremely high rate of error.

Also, when the report is coming in so late, I question whether the witness has mixed up the dates.

I just finished reading the 128 page Buckeye Police Report. Prior to this, I had mainly received news from Daniel's father. I was surprised how soon in the investigation they began disagreeing. There are two sides to every story, and they two are quite far apart. I am not sure exactly what to believe at this point.

We have seen other cases where a person goes missing after a crash. Sometimes the remains are not found for a year or more - and may even be close to the initial crash. Sometimes the remains have not been found.

I think his father is so extremely loyal, determined, and a wonderful parent. I do wish that he would admit that his son may have been having mental health issues at the time he disappeared. Being honest about the situation is important. My son is 21 and had a mental health break. If you talked to him briefly, you would think he was normal and everything is fine. But, if you spent a little more time with him, you could see that things just didn't connect in this thought patterns. When everything came to a head, he was pulled over by police and put in jail because of reckless driving (basically). No drugs or alcohol in the car. But, when he was "evaluated" by a jail psychologist, she said he was "just a drug user/abuser". However, when we were finally able to get him in to an inpatient facility, he has either bi-polar or schizoaffective disorder. Once he was medicated for that, his thought patterns and verbal responses make a lot more sense. I can tell you that if he had crashed his vehicle and lived, he would have likely wandered off in an unknown direction.

Talking about Daniel, this is Arizona in the middle of the summer, in the desert. Very hot! Heat, mental health issues, confusion, dehydration... Add all of these things together, and I fear that he may still be out there but has not yet been found. I honestly think this was a storm that came together. IMVHO, I think Daniel is out there and there is no foul play. I really, really hope they find him for his family's sake. I just don't see a dark side to this story, just a very, very sad story!
I am seeing it the same way. Mental health issues caused erratic behavior that led to an accidental crash. I have a great deal of empathy for Daniel’s Dad. I hope Daniel’s remains are found, and possibly some final conclusions.

This has a lot of the earmarks of Bryce Laspisa. Mental instability, odd behaviors, college educated, girl troubles, lived far from parents, crashed car. Vanished. The only difference is Bryce is probably lost in a lake and DR is somewhere in the desert.
Reminds me of Brandon Lawson, whose remains were later found. Brandon was having mental issues caused by substance abuse. He pulled to side of road and wandered into wilderness. Likely died of exposure/dehydration.

I just finished it also, and I completely understand how you feel. Especially seeing statements by his former PI on p. 54 of the latest police report:

JEFF SAID THAT DURING ONE CONVERSATION WITH DAVISHA ABOUT A MONTH OR MONTHAND A HALF INTO THE INVESTIGATION, DAVISHA TOLD HIM THAT DURING THE INCIDENT ON06/22/2021, DANIEL TOLD HER THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO GET USED TO HIMDISAPPEARING. I ADVISED JEFF THAT DAVISHA HAD ONLY TOLD ME THAT DANIEL SAID HEWANTED TO BE IN THE MOMENT, WHICH IS WHY HE LEFT HIS APARTMENT THE WAY HE DID.JEFF THEN SAID THAT DAVISHA HAD ALSO TOLD HIM THAT ABOUT TWO WEEKS BEFORE DANIELWENT MISSING, DAVID AND DAVISHA HAD DISCUSSED DOING AN INVOLUNTARY PETITION TOHAVE DANIEL'S MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATED. THIS WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY SHARED WITH ME ASDAVIDMAINTAINS THAT DANIEL WAS NOT HAVING A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS

Then there are Daniel's Google searches the week prior. The flurry of texts and calls to him after his emergency text on 6/22. Buckeye PD trying to do forensics on his computer but his father not allowing it and leaving it with his PI. The PI saying tips weren't to be shared with the PD, and he was uncomfortable with that...and so on.

Exactly that I was thinking of. Then I just saw a recent article that they are just now analyzing his computers.

Right. I thought the Google searches came from his computer and just checked for a page, but they came from his phone:

p. 36 IN THE SEARCHED ITEMS CATEGORY, I OBSERVED SEVERAL GOOGLE SEARCHES BETWEEN06/16/2021 AND 06/23/2021. SOME OF THOSE SEARCHES INCLUDE:"SHOULD I CALL HER""CAN YOU BREAK LEASE BEFORE IT RENEWS""LOVE CHANGED ME""LOVE IS PATIENCE""COVET""TEN COMMANDMENTS""DELETE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT""SHOOTING TEMPE""LOVE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN""EXPLOSION""I'M OKAY TO DO THINGS I HATE"

The new information in the report shows Robinson’s phone at the crash site at 10:05 a.m., and it stopped tracking just after 10:30 a.m. That becomes very important with the other new details. We learned much more about a witness named Bill, who claimed to have seen Robinson in the area after he disappeared.

Bill noticed Robinson’s new jeep and said he wore a reflective work shirt and boots. He also noticed Robinson was missing part of his arm, consistent with Robinson’s disability. “At first his story seemed to be valid. I even mentioned it at my second family press conference that there was a second person who saw my son,” said David.

But Bill claimed to have seen Robinson around 11:30 a.m., then changed his story to different potential sighting times, none that matched the data of Robinson’s phone at the crash site by 10 a.m. The police report also casts suspicion that Bill may not have been truthful about a law enforcement background. “Those were red flags for me. I went to the Buckeye Police Department with that,” said David.

After Buckeye Police interviewed Bill just two weeks ago, they issued this statement in their report: “At this time, there is no evidence in Billy’s electronic devices or phone records which helps to corroborate or disprove his story. The data in Daniel’s phone does not align with his story and it remains unclear what his motivation would be to lie about talking to Daniel the day he went missing.”
