Wow I hope they find her alive.... betting she had some kind of an accident. Wonder how hot it is there at this time of year? Was she camping alone? So many questions....
Debra Schwartz, 59, had been staying at the Pine Flat Campground.
At about 9 a.m., authorities received a 911 call from a man identifying himself as the campground host who told authorities Schwartz did not check out of the campground as expected.
When deputies arrived at the campsite, they found Schwartz's car, her assembled tent and various camping gear. It appeared Schwartz left the campground and did not return.
Schwartz is described as a white female, 5 feet 4 inches, 160 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.
The sheriff's office, assisted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety's air rescue helicopter out of Kingman, has searched the area looking for Schwartz but found no evidence of her.
Detectives are conducting a missing person investigation, trying to learn what happened before Schwartz disappeared. Anyone with information about her location or the circumstances around her disappearance is asked to call the Coconino County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-338-7888.

According to the Sheriff's Office, she was supposed to either check out Friday morning or pay for another day. When she never showed up, the campground host went to investigate.
I wonder if they have spoken to other campers that were there at the time. The host should have all their info. I don't know why I find it very odd to camp alone at a structured campground. The only time I ever camped alone was when I was doing a long hike and knew I would not make it out before nightfall. I wonder if they had spoken to her friends/family and if they mentioned if she planned on a specific hike or climb that day? I have a bad feeling she got in an accident, if she got turned around, I would hope she would have found her way out by now. I wonder if she was depressed ....or a solo hiker/camper often? IMHO
On Saturday, 40 people from the Yavapai and Coconino county search and rescue, including eight with dogs, continued to search the area by foot, including the Harding Springs and Cookstove trails. The county's detective division also is working with a contact at the ASU police department, Blair said.
Schwartz's plans were to camp at Pine Flat Tuesday through Thursday.
The search will continue Sunday if Schwartz is not found.
It wasn't clear Saturday night what progress had been made by search crews during the day.
No mention of children/spouse/parents/siblings/friends missing her.....
Rest in Peace, Debra.
:rose: RIP Debra. she sounded like a good person to know especially since she wrote about humor. what does bottom of a slot canyon mean?
:rose: RIP Debra :rose:
A slot canyon is a narrow canyon, formed by the wear of water rushing through rock. A slot canyon is significantly deeper than it is wide. Some slot canyons can measure less than 1 metre (3 ft) across at the top but drop more than 30 metres (100 ft) to the floor of the canyon.
RIP Debra ....Was hoping for a better outcome.
Has there been a ruling as to cause of death?
