Phoenix police don’t suspect foul play but are still looking into his disappearance.

His live-in girlfriend, Nikki Bailey, says she last saw him early August 6th. “He just walked out of the bedroom and said he was going to work and left,” said Nikki.

Nikki says she and Keith have a history of marital issues. Their marriage was annulled August 2015, according to court records. Early this year, court records also show Nikki also filed for an order of protection, but the request was denied because there was no proof of allegations against Keith.

Nikki acknowledges her relationships issues with Keith and says right now she just wants him to be okay.

Nikki says she travels a lot with Keith because it helps him cope with stress.

“I didn’t know what the extent of his stress was this time around. He always handled it by asking me if he wanted to go on a road trip, on a drive with him, and he didn’t do that this time,” said Nikki. “If anybody sees him, have them call the police and let them know he’s safe,” she said tearfully. “I’ve never run into something like this with Keith, but if he is afraid to report to police because he has done something wrong, but there’s people that are concerned about him,” added Nikki.

Keith is six feet tall, had blue eyes and weighs 195 lbs. He was last seen driving his new Toyota Tacoma. Nikki says his last known location is Payson where he used his credit cards for the last time.

Nikki Bailey and Keith, 48, took a three-mile walk before work on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. They returned to their Phoenix home where Keith got ready for work and kissed her goodbye as he did every day.

Keith left the house in his newly-purchased dark gray 2018 Toyota Tacoma truck. There was still a temporary license on the vehicle.

Nikki became concerned when Keith stopped responding to her texts and calls.

The last text she received from her husband read, “I’m so sorry for all the pain and stress I’ve caused you.”

Nikki told Dateline Keith’s ex-wife had also received an unnerving message. Nikki says Keith texted his ex, saying he had recently transferred a large sum of money into their oldest son’s bank account.

Nikki started pinging his cell phone in order to track his location. She said the last ping located Keith on Highway 87 heading northeast toward Payson, Arizona.

Nikki said Keith loves the area of Payson, Arizona, and the Mogollon Rim.

Nikki told Dateline she later received an alert that Keith’s credit card had been used to fill up on gas in Payson. He hasn’t used the credit card or taken any money out of their bank account since then.

She said Keith had been going through stressful times at work, as well as with his children.

“He wasn’t sleeping. He was having trouble going to work. And he loved that job,” Nikki told Dateline. “That’s what concerns me. He would never just not show up at work.”

Keith is the principal materials engineer for ARTL Laboratories in Phoenix.

Nikki said Keith was close to his sons from his previous marriage, but recently had a fight with the oldest, who is 18.

A Facebook post by Nikki has captured lots of attention, shared more than 30,000 times by many wanting to know more about this case.

“A text message at 3:35 p.m. that said ‘I’m sorry for all the stress and pain that I have caused you,’ and that’s it, that’s the last message that I received,” said Nikki.

She says the message had a lot to do with a fallout with one of Keith’s sons. “He was very overwhelmed and very stressed out about some issues that he had with his son and some issues that he was having with someone at work,” said Nikki.

She reported him missing a few hours after that last text was sent, the evening of August 6th.

Glad to see a thread for Keith. Finally MSM reporting it.

Confusing why his wife would think foul play was involved after receiving a message like that from him and mentioning how much stress she was under. My thoughts would be self harm.

Also, he didn't hide his trail until after Payson and filling up the vehicle. Maybe he has enough cash to continue on without leaving a trace. Strange if he were trying to disappear that he wouldn't have gone radio silent immediately. Text message sent before or after gas station location? Possible someone else sent text? Has his truck been located?

On, Sunday, Aug. 25, at around 3 a.m., sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area of Forest Service Road 95 in Heber-Overgaard in reference to a death investigation.

There, deputies found the body of a man, who has since been identified as 49-year-old Keith Bailey.
