Tucson mom, boyfriend arrested in death of disabled boy, 11

The 11-year-old boy had numerous medial issues and was fully dependent on his guardians for care, Tucson police say.

Ariel Lea Horn, 33, and Charles Jackson McClellan, Jr., 29, were arrested May 1 in the death of the boy, who was not identified Wednesday in a news release from the Tucson Police Department.

The boy lived in the Limberlost home with his mother, her boyfriend, and three other siblings. The TPD said detectives found evidence of extensive fentanyl use in the home.

According to court documents, a nurse at the victim’s school noticed the sores and told the family he would need a doctor’s note before coming back to school. The boy then missed several doctor’s appointments and investigators said his last appointment was months before.

As of Wednesday, Horn and McClellan were each being held on a $1 million bond, according to police.
