Making no statement on this case, I remember the days when the biggest weapons of LE were their brains and their mouths, insofar as they were able to deescalate situations rather than camping out at a point of no return with sidearms drawn. I don't want to sound like I have nostalgia for the "good ol' days," but there were times when smart LE were celebrated. Now, a high IQ can be used as a reason to keep someone out of LE, and that just seems sad to me (not a statement on this case, but just the same):

The passenger was the one shot.
He DID NOT put his hands up.
    He was not following instructions.
There was a gun in the glove compartment where he was sitting.

And just to top it all off...
The cop KNEW the man from arresting him previously.
He had a criminal history for?
Shooting 3 cops in the past. :twocents:

Nothing to be outraged over here, in my opinion. :twocents:

I think the assessment that the cop escalated the situation is pretty unfair. He is very calm, matter of fact and polite as he starts the interaction. It is the felon in the car that ESCALATES it . He refuses over and over and over to comply.Even after a gun was spotted. Defies orders. And when commanded to STAY IN THE CAR, he forces his way out of the door, which the cop is holding shut.

I don't understand all the talk about cops and low IQ. This was a black officer. Are you trying to make a correlation of some kind?

It appears to be so easy to manipulate any story by just a few words and spin a different story on what really happened.

God bless this officer, and I am sorry that he was put in the position of defending himself.

    Wow, talk about misleading headlines

From the fox article "Then, the passenger, despite being warned repeatedly not to move, stepped out of the Jaguar, his hands raised about shoulder level"

I have almost gotten involved a couple of times when a cop was physically struggling with a suspect.
The cop got the upper hand just as I decided to get involved.
That is the only time I would get involved as a bystander. :twocents:

I completely agree! I'm getting really sick of these stories about how horrible the police are.

I don't get it either. It really isn't that hard, I suppose unless you are a criminal.

McMillin had responded to a call that Walker had threatened an ex-girlfriend during the day allegedly telling her he 'had a bullet with her name on it'.

What horrible decisions cops have to make. If McMillin had waited to see what Walker was picking up , it might have been too late !

If you cooperate with LE, you shouldn't have to worry about your civil rights.
