Oh boy,are you guys ready for round two about BSL? With all of this new information I know I am! PS: Missed you guys

You make an excellent point. BSL underestimated his victim when he chose Mickey. I bet he never expected the ferocious fight from her or the immediate and swift global social media blitz from her family and friends. He chose the wrong victim and the public was not going to let him get away. Sadly, there may be others who weren't noticed or missed because of a variety of reasons. We can only hope that LE is right and that there aren't any more. I won't be convinced until Madeline Aumiller is found safe- where is she??

In the investigative report, it stated that BSL called several escort services, but obviously without any luck. Imo, this is likely due to the call girl cajun net and their past exeriences with BS Lavergne, he was black listed.
Imo, many of his unknowns victims were prostitutes, runaways, etc..

So, while in prison, he basically admitted to killing 4 or 5 women.
We can say one was Lisa Pate.

He killed Mickey this year, and has been out of prison for a very long time.

I don't know who in their right mind would honestly think that if he admitted to killing 4 or 5 women since way back in 1999, he doesn't have a large amount now, after all of this.
BBM
But I will admit, I thought they had much more than a testimony to charge him with Lisa Pates murder.
I'm glad he plead guilty to Lisa Pate's murder as well, because I'm not sure that testimony would have been enough to convict him on that charge...

I was thinking they found physical evidence of her in his home.
Maybe they had more than just that testimony, but haven't released it yet.
I, likewise, Ocean. Inmate testimony alone? At least at this point. I was anticipating a smoking gun of some sort. Physical evidence...indeed! Nope...not yet, at least. Why do I feel pouty?

in the link i just posted with the video, i caught a line in one of the interviews with his cellmate about a woman in holly beach LA? ring any bells?

what happened at Holly Beach. goodness gracious, he just keeps getting worse and worse! Foxfire has been right all along in suggesting HOW evil BSL is.

I heard rumors that the EP "assault" was much worse than what was in the report, and I now see proof that it was. Well, i guess it's not proof. But, KATC published a page of dialogue between an investigator and KK. They used it as a "backdrop" to Lavergne's mugshot. I don't think they intended on people reading it. BSL truly thrived on his horrific acts. They were very much centered around rape and brutality. Of course we all knew what his intentions were that awful May night. But I thought that most rapists raped for power over a victim - that it was more about the power, not the sex. But that is not the case with BSL. He was more like a Bundy. It is so hard to believe that a guy like this was roaming the streets of Acadiana. Scary disturbing stuff!

Sorry... I couldnt help but to pause and read what i could...slightly obbsessed ...

Imo, Lisa Pate received a less than thorough and competent investigation. It would be interesting to reexamine the (cold case)files in the Lisa Pate murder investigation.
Imo, her case would show the tragic consequences when all available resources aren't used in an investigation.. How many other innocent victim's lives might been saved?

KK was Lavergne's cellmate, saying they were sharing their criminal stories, when the conversation took an interesting turn. KK says he made a facetious remark degrading women, at that point Lavergne began to describe how he raped a woman. He says Lavergne said he was looking for sex. According to KK's interview, the sex began as consenual and escalated quickly and violently. Lavergne admitting to abusing her physically, and mentally, KK remembering all the while, Lavergne seemed excited to be reliving the event in his mind. But the part that made KK contact police, was when Lavergne told him after he dumped the woman's body, Lavergne was nervous she wasn't "really dead" and went back to check.
This original interview led police to make Lavergne the prime suspect in the Pate case and present it to a Grand Jury in 2008. He wasn't indicted then, but after the Lafayette Police Department started looking at Lavergne for the Shunick case, another inmate came forward. The inmate testified Lavergne hated women, saying if he had a problem he would "choke them, kill 'em and dump them." The inmate says Lavergne claimed he had done those things to four or five women, and some would never be found because "the gators would be eating them."

I agree. In his confession about Lisa he made it sound as though they were in a hotel, but that couldn't have been the case if he killed her right after she tried to take his keys. I wonder where they were. I wonder if police ever found that out. It does seem as though she didn't get a very in depth investigation no matter how much Higgenbotham insisted he killed Pate.

Right! The one inmate's statement wasn't enough for the Acadia Parish Grand Jury to return an indictment in 2008. I seriously believe that had it not been for Mickey's case, Lisa would never have gotten justice. It doesn't matter if the Acadia Parish LEO's felt BSL was her killer- I don't think they ever had the evidence to convict. I am satisfied with his sort of confession and plea to LWOP as justice for Lisa, even 13 years later. kind of. It's better than nothing.

I know little to nothing of this side of Lafayette. I hope that vice checked into any known escorts for missing women. Lafayette doesn't have a lot of reported homicides that go unsolved. Most have the killer arrested almost immediately. I think there have only been 3 completely stranger encounter homicides this year- one was Mickey. I just wish I knew of a way to have the police check. While on one hand, I hope his 4 known victims are it but on the other, I hope they never stop looking for connections to others. Then there is Madeline Aumiller. I really feel like something bad has happened to her and Lavergne knows what it is..

justwannahelp, tragically BSL was not the first, last, or only predator roaming the streets of Acadiana. Recidivism and escalation is why it is imperative that all available resources are utilized by LE to identify and incarcerate psychopathic sexual predators before they progress to the level of sadistic rituals, torture, and controlling the life or death over their innocent victims..
BSL, honed his evil skills for over two decades, truly the devil's deciple...a stealth predator..

Well, I've actually read that she was killed in a hotel, and the "bar" that she worked as was inside this same hotel.
It was said by someone that knew BSL at C. Phelps correctional facility when BSL was in prison.

This is the guy that was familiar with law as well, and BSL called him right out of jail requesting his sex offender status be removed

GulfCoastKAT, BSL agreed to the LWOP plea in Mickey Shunick & Lisa Pate's murders due to the overwhelming amount of evidence against him.
The unknown victims and the ability to relive his past are his only assets/possessions. Imo, the odds of BSL coming clean in the revelation of other unknown victims identities and remains locations is slim to none.
We may never know the magnitude of his evil trail of terror...

What? What about the Cajun Riviera (Holly Beach) did you read? I CANNOT :banghead: seem to pull up the video.

Right before the video ends with a head shot of lisa pate. The page that fades into her face i belive... If you still cant find it ill go back and get the exact time

Hello all. Long time no see! I was just so sickened I had to take a step back from the whole case for a bit. I started reading BSL's prison journal tonight though, and am struggling with it. I don't know if I can make it through the whole 37 pages unless I spruce it up with photoshop. But I figured someone here may have already done that, or started transcribing it? If so give a sista a link! TIA.

Will never forget you Mickey!

Here is what I know about the chick in the video. My brother has a mutual friend with her. He knows her and has said she is crazy with a capital C. She had told him a story of BSL abusing her when she was 14. She (bc of that incident) had to go to the hospital. She did not file charges, but said there was a police report. She said she contacted detectives a week and a half before his arrest. He had me contact the independent to get them to verify her story, but they never got back to us. I never got the impression that she was ever his girlfriend.

I will try to get my brother to get more info on the "letter"

Ocean, was/is she a poster here? I don't remember any one talking like they were his ex. I have been away from here for a while though...

That must be the girl he chased around the house with a knife and her mother came home in the process. IIRC she had to go to the hospital due to injuries.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think they could convict someone of murder because two people said he confessed. There has to be more evidence. I also agree I think he has a long list of victims. I think he tends to go for women who lead questionable lifestyles knowing that more times then not they have little to no contact with family so them missing goes almost unnoticed. I'm interested to know if he is still a person of interest in Ali's case. I pray her family gets closure soon as do all of the families of his victims.

In his journals that KATC has, Erin Steuber posted on Facebook a paragraph where he talks about longing for death but not wanting to go to hell for committing suicide (from his personal religious beliefs, I assume).

That changed when faced with the death penalty.
