Brad Cooper completes prison sentence for wife's murder, will be deported

Raleigh, N.C. — Twelve years after a Cary woman was found dead, her husband walked out of prison Monday.

Brad Cooper was released from Mountain View Correctional Institution, in Spruce Pine, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Authorities said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement would take him into custody to begin the process of deporting him to Canada.

A man already in prison has been charged with murder in the 1988 disappearance of a girl from a California supermarket

David Misch, 59, who is serving a sentence for an unrelated murder conviction, was charged Monday by Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley in the disappearance of Michaela Garecht. He will be arraigned Tuesday, a news release from the DA's office said.
